Quote: | A new Prince of Persia is in development at Ubisoft, according to rumors, and it’s being built using the UbiArt engine.
PoP
A report on French website Portail du Jeu Video stated the game is new 2D entry in the series, and thanks to the same engine used in Rayman Origins and Child of Light, the developers were able to animate the Prince’s body as though it were a 3D model.
This allows the character to move individual parts such ass the torso, legs, and other appendages.
Animations for various actions performed by the Prince are also supposedly in place, such as wall-jumps, sword attacks and the like.
Ubisoft told Vidoegamer it does not comment on rumors and speculation. |

That's.. an idea. I remember playing the original for the first time and it being one of the first games I've ever played (aye, I'm rather young). It really would be cool if they make it right and Ubisoft won't try to milk this senseless..

I'm talking about THE ORIGINAL, not the 3d game from 2003.

Well then you're not that young, if you played the 1989 one.

I hope it's not an abomination like the Prince of Persia (2008) was.

They have a fantastic engine in their hands (the recent Raymen were pure art), they only need the right people to handle it and we're set.

I hope you're joking.... it had the last part of the story completely cut off and later released as a fucking DLC (not available on PC, so I never got to see the proper ending) and the Prince's constant one-liners were so bad I wanted to throw the controller at the screen every time he opened his mouth. Gameplay was decent but far below the original 3d trilogy.

and on PS3/360,the better version on those I must say,too bad Classic POP2 remake was only on Smartphones and very disappointed classic remake,"Shadows on Flames" was better in every aspects then it's precursor(the classic one,not the remake).

Sin317-"im 31 years old and still surprised at how much shit comes out of my ass actually ..."
SteamDRM-"Call of Duty is the symbol of the true perfection in every aspect. Call of Duty games are like Mozart's/Beethoven's symphonies"

Sands of Time was easily the best of the series, followed by The Two Thrones, and then Warrior Within.
That doesn't mean that WW is a bad game, it's a fantastic game, but it doesn't hold a candle to SoT.

WW would have been great, if they didn't go in that shitty, immature direction with it. TTT was a bit easy, but I still rate it above WW. SoT was easily the best.

I must admit, I liked all the PoP games released so far, even the 2008 version and The Forgotten Sands with all their flaws. I think that a 2D version with proper platforming and no one-button awesomesauce at all would be a very pleasant addition to the series, actually it's exactly what we need...as long as they don't fuck it up
