It's a remake of Hitchcock's "Strangers on a Train".

Affleck is both starring and producing.

The script is going to be written by "Gone Girl"'s screenwriter (and original book author). So it's one big reunion for the trio.

Plot:

Quote:
This one might be best titled Strangers On A Plane, as Affleck will play a variation of the role played by Farley Granger of a tennis pro who is bored with his marriage and wants to get divorced, but instead gets entwined with a wealthy socialite psycho who proposes the notion of exchanging murders. The twist here is a compelling one. Affleck will play a movie star–in the middle of a campaign for an Oscar during awards season–whose private plane breaks down and is given a ride to LA on another plane by a wealthy stranger. In Fincher’s hands, who knows how that goes, but it sure does seem like fertile ground.

I've seen the original movie (which is super old by now) last year and it's unsettling as fuck... Very creepy!! I'm very excited about this!! (Given Fincher's track record).

TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"

Strangers on a train... I watched it a long time ago
I think David Fincher is a really good choice for this film, however, Ben is a pretty mediocre actor. He should direct films, not star in them.

i really would love for fincher to do something different rather than just these drama/thrillers... dont get me wrong, they're good, but id just love to see him go back to sci-fi, or try his hand at action or horror....

No, thanks.

Social commentary, though? I'd love that

Seeing how mediocre Gone Girl turned out (with help from Affleck), I wouldn't know why you'd see it as good news.
It had potential... but nope.

Never liked Strangers on a Train much. The concept is brilliant, but the execution is poor, because of its odd pacing (that tennis game Laughing )
Sometimes it looks more like a theatre play than a movie (see also Dial M for Murder, a poorly adapted play for the big screen).

There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.

There are awesome movies where it works, yeah.
12 Angry Men comes the mind immediately, Reservoir Dogs also somewhat.

I guess whether it works depends greatly on characters and dialog. But for me it didn't in Strangers... and Dial M... Very Happy
