I agree with the blogger/reviewer. 4K is yet another "gimmick". The technology is there so they try to sell it. Thing is, what and who will be using the native mode? Gaming in 4K? Good luck with that CPU/GPU/RAM/IO-virtualised cluster in real time.
I can only see it being used by people that use photoshop and other image editing/creation programs.

Retain quality and high dpi when zooming in to work on a small part of a high resolution picture for instance. A lot more detail when working with intricate modeling in 3D-rendering and CAD-software etc. etc. etc.
