Sounds good but the fact its releasing a year late and only to select cinemas makes me think they know its a flop before it even hits the big screen...
Let the main character not manage a safe return on Earth and fly off to space (or get burnt into the atmosphere) while being entirely helpless and void of any chances of getting rescued. Let's have a grim ending for once.
or atleast let george clooney save himself by creating a counter-force through ejaculation into space and that way drift back to safety, either that or a grim ending where they both die.
well its not really sci-fi in this case anymore, its a space drama or whatever, since sci-fi implies its fiction
science fiction doesn't mean the story has to take place in a fictional universe
scientifically plausible fictional events asking scientific or science based questions should be enough
ooh
happy to see realistic scifi films for once
so tired of fantastic premises when there's interesting stuff to show in possible REAL scenarios
Sound in space means it's not realistic.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"
I'm only interested because it looks like a decent space-themed movie. I've only liked Children of Men by Cuaron - his only shining moment thus far. His other movies like Harry Potter and Great Expectations, for example, were average. So, I can't say that the choice of director for this movie is what's making me want it.

this is like making an omlette and wondering why it turns yellow and make a movie out of it. its not sci fi
If the event was rare or improbable or that question had profound importance on the narrative, surely it would be.
Unfortunately the chemistry of eggs aren't deep enough to allow for that.
It's not even fiction when you can do it yourself.
But if there was a movie that just had cloning in it, it would be widely accepted as scifi.
Even though we've done cloning - just not on humans (at least publicly).
It's improbable and it asks interesting questions, and thats enough.
It's not that I much care about genre definitions, but it's currently limiting the fiction hollywood does.
Scifi has been pushed so far that stories need to be either straight down to earth drama or a space opera where it's almost more fantasy than anything to do with scientific inquiry. *coughstarwars*
Or you can put classical movie instead like a certain masterpiece
