Gearbox will release high-definition remakes of Relic Entertainment's realtime strategy series to Windows PC, the original Homeworld and Homeworld 2, the company announced at its PAX Australia panel today. The company will also release the original two titles to digital distribution platforms for Windows PC.

Good news but, what HD means better textures better models or it supports just HD resolution ?
I think it will only be high resolution witch game supports now. Problem with Homewords on modern PC is stability... and stability might be hard to FIX.
This, sadly If it was an actual remake with love and care and effort, it would be awesome, but we all know they're simply going to ship the older titles with "high resolution", slap some cheevos into it and be done Still, at least they haven't turned it into an FPS or TPS, that's something to be happy about
homeworld 2 runs fine on win 7 x64 (gamecopyworld german exe) and you can add any resolution you want in command line.
cata i dont remember if it runs in 7x64.
hw1 runs fine afaik and again, you can add any resolution in command line.
not sure for win 8, but i think i run it once with complex mod. (hw2)
is great that i would be able to buy them on steam probably, and hopefully support hw 3 .

HD remakes usually means up to date DRM, cloud, achievements, and resolution support. Let's hope Gearbox is spending those Borderlands money into something other than Borderlands for this.

YEAH lets re-release ALL YOUR GAMES AGAIN and add HD at the end DERPS WILL NOT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE

Hope this will be a true HD version. so upgraded textures effects and resolution. not just some flimsy port for x64 systems that really isnt HD at all.

I hope everything goes smooth, but I'm also having the unpleasant sensation that whatever they will decide to do, they'll fuck up something.
No way we'll have a proper flawless HD remake from this company. Unneeded additions, unexplainable changes, disappointing "enhancements"..name one (or two), you'll have it (them).

I doubt it. I think it will be straightforward.
Frankly, I wouldn't mind some improvements to HW2. Don't touch HW, but HW2 could use some changes IMO. The biggest being add the ammo system back in! In HW one of the biggest things was to always remember to re-arm all your ships, and you even had the special frigate that let fighters dock on it for a quick re-supply/repair. They removed that from HW2.
