Basically search for "Unreal PSX" and "Unreal: Rise of Jrath" for the backstory of this, as the creator has written on many forums, and it's quite hard to keep track of everything.
Basically: Baaaaack in the day, Pterodactyl studios were doing a PSX port/rework/remake of Unreal that was cancelled, it would have several unique maps/features/whatever, a guy started asking around the map designers that have worked on this about 3 years ago, and many sent them to him the levels they worked on. These are PC levels actually, I guess they would be turned to a PSX format later on.
So the guy (along with some other people) kept asking around more and more people that worked on this to send them whatever levels they have, he has been collecting them, fixing stuff, updating textures, etc and making it into an Unreal mod.
So basically he tries to recreate this PSX version, although a lot of material is missing, but hey it's something!

As a fan of Unreal series I must say that this seems like a horrible waste of time.

I love first unreal.... The only proper unreal remake would need to have jaw dropping graphics like Unreal had and music by the same composer
Tho ths is interesting anyway
