It's a swift. I've found two of them at the bottom of the stairs at my attic. I had to take care of them. One of them was very weak and died in a matter of hours, the other one was strong and I take care of him for 2-3 weeks now. It's funny how he can tell a difference from me or my girlfriend. He likes me to feed him and he's calm around me. He was very energetic, when he heard someone in the room he started chirping and crying for food and recently he started flapping his wings and running away from his basket to look for us.

But yesterday he's become very weak and today morning he was very very weak and cold. My girlfriend warmed him up and he's kind of ok now. I'm going to take him to the vet after work.

I hope that my and my girlfriend's dream comes true and the day will come that we will release him in the sunset and watch him fly away Sad

These birds are amazing.

" Larger species are amongst the fastest fliers in the animal kingdom, with the white-throated needletail having been reported flying at up to 169 km/h (105 mph).[6] Even the common swift can cruise at a maximum speed of 31 metres per second (112 km/h, 70 mph). "

they can live in the air for years, even sleep while flying.

here's a video of my gf feeding him Smile he's a one hungry motherfucker.

my dad use to look after injured and young birds we found when we were young (we had a big bird Avery you could walk in at home) He had a box that had a light globe in it to keep them warm. I'm not sure of the globe he used but keeping them warm is important and just having some blankets/cloths is not enough. blankets work by retaining heat and are not a source of heat, with younger birds in particular you have to provide them with a source of heat.

That's about all I know

Thanks!

that's probably right. It might be why he was so weak and cold. I'll see what the vet says.
I'll probably end up buying him a lamp or something Wink

I just hope I don't end up selling stuff to fix a goddamn animal (i feel you Sabin Smile )

edit:

i just realized that it's become kind of cold in Poland the last few days and I've read that a bird should have a temperature of 35C in his nest. Yikes Sad

If I ever release him I'll share a movie with you guys Smile

my girlfriend called. He just died Sad

he was fully feathered and pretty grown up so I'm thinking it wasn't the cold. He must've been sick or something. His "brother" died the same way. He was full of energy in the morning and a couple of hours later he barely moved.

yeah, we're very sad but it was a very happy experience. It was so much fun to take care of him and he's brought so much joy and so many smiles. I'm glad he passed away with us and not in that dark attic. Good by birdie.

thanks for the feels men.

These birds are indeed amazing and incredibly fast (so much that sometimes I can't even follow their movements properly), they also seem to like my house a lot, since I have several nests right under the roof, covering two corners. Hope they all stay fit :<

thanks to them you probably have 0 insects around the house, like I do.

I've always took them for granted and didn't even notice them.

Now I'll always shed a tear while watching them flying Sad
