How do I install these correctly?

Select and install dazip files using \Dragon Age\bin_ship\daupdater.exe and then decrypt them.

I don't necessarily agree with everything I say.

The decryption tool should be somewhere around Rolling Eyes

(Just use the tool via command-line interface and type the key to decode it, change the requireauthorization=1 to 0 in the INI and it should work without any problems.)

I'll upload it later on.

EDIT: Here's the utility and a modified .bat file in the meantime, just place both in the C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\AddIns\ folder and run the .bat, you can open it in notepad first if you are unsure about what it does.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/x2x3qj
(All credits to the creator of said utility and those who find the keys for the "addins".)

EDIT: The authorization=0 edit is done in the C:\Users\UserName\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Settings\Addins.xml file.

This is the tool.

Add the Keys to the BAT File and run.

Then update Addins.XML with '0" in requiresauthorisation in the relevant paths.

Enjoy.

Once I started getting such errors after editing Addins.xml in WordPad. After saving, it changed encoding from UTF-8 to ANSI, which updater doesn't like.

So how would I go about changing it back?

*Scratch that, figured it out. Thanks though for the tip.

Little help please.
I am playing the addon DA Awakening and am a mage. From the first part I developed a mage character who had from Warden Keep the two blood magic abilities. Now after installing Awakening I still have the icons and animation to them but they don't give me mana or hurt the darkspawn.
I din't uninstall the game and they worked just fine in the main campaign.
Any ideas?

BioWare specifically didn't port across any DLC from the original game - neither abilities nor items - except for Return to Ostagar. Since Warden's Keep is DLC, it doesn't work.

http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/58/index/1757875/1

explains it a bit more.

There are mods, however. I'm using this one

http://dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=883

Which is the most elegant solution so far. Works flawlessly for me, and I'm 10 hours in to Awakening. Should do until BioWare deign to patch it officially.

PS: Also found a DLC pack called "A Tale of Orzammar". It came from the November 2009 issue of PC Gamer Magazine content discs. I have not played it myself yet.

Installed everything. Also thinking of using that patch mentioned earlier to make regular DLC items appear in Awakening. Maybe some other custom mods too since some of them seem really nice.

If game didn't automatically downloaded them for you (you don't see DLC as possible purchase option inside the game), you need them. Otherwise, you don't.

They are not downloaded because I block DA:O from reaching the Internet. Thanks for the answer, I'll keep them then.

I second that. I haven't even bought the expansion until that mod is updated. Not sure how much hope there is for it since the author ain't around.

is there any solution for me here, ive run into the lost gear bug in the silverite mines in awakening. i only see you can reload to a point before entering the mines and leaving gear at the vigil in the chest but im fucked, my earliest save is right into the jail cell AND im always naked (no cloth clothes) so im screwed?

Yeah I've read that there's some bug with that (mod items? choice differences?) were you don't get anything and your gear is permanently lost (Those "things" don't have anything).

yah I believe its a quest item or maybe some DLC items that bug it out but for me, ive got no mods or DLC, Ive been playing as an arcane warrior with plate gear as a mage, so i think it bugs out with requirements or something....

its game breaking for me anyhow, ive spent too much time setting up my chars, gear, tactics, spells and just so much to have to do it over again. pisses me off, so mass effect 2 is on the house to pay me back for this Razz

If its a missing item issue then you can probably use console commands to create a new item for yourself.

I don't know how but I'm sure you can google around to find out how to bring the console up and what to use to create items.

Everything (Plot items probably not.) is missing and gone if that bug happens, and depending on the order the quest is done it a lot of companions could be missing gear as well I think.
(Which includes various new powerful items in the expansion and stuff like that.)
