Nice to get an official word on this at last.

First is one of the best strategy games I've played. Hopefully this will be just as good....or better?!

small update with a presentation

Thanks. Sounds interesting, seems Kerberos remains true to themselves by cooking something different Smile

P.S. presenter reminded me of Jeffrey Lebowski - an awesome Dude Laughing

Hehe, yeah, Mecron is quite a character. While he seems to rub some whiny people the wrong way, personally I find it refreshing with an outspoken and confrontational dev compared to how most devs nowadays are silent and faceless as far as the community around their games go. Though he *can* be a bit of an ass sometimes. Laughing

And I still have faith in Kerberos, while FZ wasn't a top notch game, it wasn't priced as such either, they knew pretty well what they released I think (maybe bar the now mostly fixed bugs) and I sure had more fun with that pretty shitty game than most titles costing 6-10 times as much. But I do agree that Northstar, if done right, probably is higher on my wish list as well (though I think I recall reading that Nstar hasn't got a publisher yet, so from a business standpoint they are probably doing the only thing they can do).

Oh, he is Mecron. Good to know, I will be remembering his presentation for quite some time now every time I will be reading his forum posts Smile

Agree on Fort Zombie, with latest patches game is simple but quite fun time waster Smile

North Star is a trading / smuggling RPG game. You explore galaxy, land on planets to explore / trade ala Captain Malcolm 'Mal' Reynolds & crew from Firefly / Serenity. You can upgrade your ship to have hidden compartments to hide illegal goods. Combat in space is real time ala SoTs and ground / inside the ship combat is turn-based ala X-COM. Game has story missions and side missions.

Anyone new to the game and interested in learning more about the mechanics should check the wiki out. It's the ultimate manual.

This is really amazing. It retains the drawn feel of the original, while still technically very impressive. Smile Thanks!

The game will be released Feb 9th.

North Star has a very good premise, and imagine the combination between X-Com and Elite, it'll either be a classic game or fall flat on it's face.

Or just another average and forgettable space-'sim'/actionRPG hybrid.

A cross between X-Com and Elite would be quite unique.

Hmm... at Paradox's SOTS 2 site --> http://www.paradoxplaza.com/games/sword-of-the-stars-2
release date is 09/02/2011, but "LATEST NEWS" and "LATEST PRESS RELEASES" columns use a freaky MM/DD/YYYY date format.

So, looks like game won't be released at Feb 9th as Epsilon mentioned a few posts back, but is scheduled for Sep 2nd

Sad Crying or Very sad
