That could be interesting, would fit with the games setting as well. Smile
(And if they're around 10 hours in length as this first one is rumored to be that's good too.)

2K Games and 1C Company have updated the PC versions of Borderlands 2 that are purchased from both retail locations and via digital distribution in Russia, the Baltic states, and CIS territories. Consumers in these countries will now receive a bundle that contains both the 1C Russian language version of Borderlands 2, as well as the 2K Games worldwide (English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, and Japanese) version of the game. This gives consumers in these countries the widest range of options to both choose their preferred language and play with their friends across the world.

Though the 1C and 2K versions do not support cross-version play, consumers can install both versions and have the option to play each. Additionally, Borderlands 2 Season Pass and DLC content purchased in these territories will contain this bundled format content. We thank customers for their feedback as we continue to work to provide the best products we can offer worldwide.

Tipped the bartended in sanctuary about fifty times or so because I tried hearing everything she had to say, turns out that if you keep doing it (But this can bug.) you get a pistol and then another pistol a while after that if you continue tipping. Very Happy

EDIT: Found this as well via a side quest, overall it wasn't very good compared to what I had.

On the weapon inspect screen is the screenshot function tied to the Steam's own screenshot feature so it doesn't work with the SKIDROW version? Or am I just blind and can't find the pictures? Currently just hitting P to hide the key binds at the bottom and then taking the shot with Fraps.

Im loving this game, man cant believe how much theive improved the sequel compared to B1,its like day and night.

Il be buying this in a few days, its just simply awesome, the story is fun, the lighthearted tone of the game really sets it apart, and its refreshing . Smile

And claptrap is simply genius, always crack a smile when hes talking or doing some stupid shit Smile

The gunplay is fast and meaty, it looks cartoonish but the weapons have impact and the effects are very well done.

Also i love the clean graphics.

The interface is kinda meh tough.

some info about physx in BL2 from Nvidia rep, as well as upcoming performance increasing update for the game:
Quote:
The final version of Borderlands 2 shipped with its own PhysX driver, which is located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Borderlands 2\Binaries\Win32

Also, you should see a higher level of performance following the release of a game patch, though I do not have the timing on that as it's coming from Gearbox and 2K.

As we acknowledge in http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/borderlands-2-physx the frame rate can change significantly depending on the number of effects in the area. Furthermore, we recommend that High only be used by the GTX 660 and above in single-card configurations because of the detail improvements we've made.

they probably know, but they will deny it and say physx is useless because it doesn't add to gameplay or whatever. i'll never understand this hypocritical point of view, people who like eye candy in games but hate physx, which surely adds a lot of eye candy, sometimes at a performance cost, but in BL2 i haven't noticed any big fps drops with physx on high, so they made big improvements since early days of physx.

I notice there are different color purples this time around. I bought some purple nades from a vending machine and scored two smgs with different colors. One is kind of pink. Also, I didn't even realize there were vault symbols to tag until I read the achievement list Razz

I also got an orange assault rifle at about level 9 off a boss. I'm enjoying this one even on solo mode.

PhysX does add a bit when it's enabled (Can be enabled on any hardware though of course without a NV GPU some effects - smoke in particular from what I've noticed - will be missing and performance is degraded somewhat.) though it's not required but it's nice to have. Smile
(I do like the fluid effects for blood but it's staged a bit oddly, there's nearly nothing on low and then on medium you get a splatter and small pools for some creatures and then on high you get full blood pool effects and splatter.)

The performance improvement is most likely because this is the first game to use 3.0 (Can anyone check? Don't have the game installed yet Smile), which was released in May 2011. Before that, starting from February 2008 when Nvidia bought AGEIA, PhysX had not moved forward by even an inch.

And PhysX sure adds a lot in Mafia 2 or Batman, a 9mm making a concrete pillar explode into a million particles or a stack of paper violently flying up through the air because your little toe grazed it is AMAZING lol wut

That kind of thing does fit in this game, but that doesn't take away from the fact that 75% of what you see can be done without PhysX. If this finally uses 3.0 then maybe it won't be such a piece of shit anymore. The problem with PhysX is not what it does or doesn't do (and there's a lot it cannot do), it's the artificial performance crippling on anything but Nvidia GPUs. PhysX can't do actual physics on a GPU (collisions and such, the kind of thing Red Faction does, I won't bore you with the technical details since that's wasted on both of you), only the small crap like particles; and why the hell aren't those possible without an Nvidia GPU when PhysX is involved all of a sudden? Because there are tons of games which do the same shit without it. Not to mention that both Bullet and Havok are much better at *actual* physics. There still are barely any games that use PhysX and there's always a bag of cash involved; as a result, AMD users only get half the experience of a game, even though like I said 75% of what is often done with PhysX can also be done almost as efficiently without it; at least more efficiently for both side than it is for non-Nvidia with it.

That's why at least I can't stand PhysX. If this is 3.0 and they finally got rid of the performance crippling then that's fine. About fucking time after there were 0 improvements over 3 years.

Disclaimer: I currently own Nvidia, had Nvidia when I played both Batman and Mafia 2, and unlike you two nitwits, I was there with a glorious 8800 (although it went underfill-up a few months later and was replaced with a 9800) when PhysX came to Nvidia and fucking hated from the first moment. To date, the only game to really use PhysX for what its name says it should be used (so yeah, I mean physics) is Cryostasis. I turned PhysX off in both (well, all 3) games I just mentioned, because I couldn't stand how ridiculous it made the games look; particular Mafia 2 became like a cartoon because of it.

That link above had some info about it but I've not checked which specific version it is, kinda has to be 3.x though since it has separate driver files.

http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/borderlands-2-physx

EDIT: Alas it's 2.8.4 (Albeit that's still a improvement over 2.8.3) didn't know it could be used stand-alone, interesting.

EDIT: The previous "best" PhysX title was also 2.8.4 I believe, Alice: Madness Returns.
(Though this updated 2.8.4,6 version seems quite improved both in appearance and performance.)

EDIT:
Intel_NVIDIA wrote:

That makes sense, a co-operation between Gearbox and Nvidia or what to call it, which it already is though.

Okay so it's still the crippled piece of shit version, shame. Still goes to show how "popular" PhysX is as an actual development decision rather than a bag of cash decision.

Played a little bit and I am impressed, almost everything is improved from BL1. Level with Claptrap's boat felt almost as a level from Rage.

PhysX actually adds a lot in this one, seeing an enemy gibbing to bloody pudding and tiny bits flying all over after a shotgun blast is so awesome. After seeing it on Medium settings I could never play on Low ever again.

Managed to get game running very fluidly on my 5 years old rig(Q6600@2400, GTX460, 4GB RAM) with Physx Effects - Medium on this settings

Code:
Vsync on
Capped 60 FPS
8x Anisotropic Filtering
Bullet Decals - High
Foliage Distange - Far
Texture Quality - High
Game Detail - High
Ambient Occlusion - On
Depth of field - On
FXAA - On
View Distance - High
Physx Effects - Medium

+

Triple buffering - On @ NVIDIA Control Panel

Settings affecting performance the most are Anisotropic Filtering and Physx, setting Anisotropic Filtering from 16x to 8x with Physx on Medium almost doubled performance for me Shocked

Would be nice to see a comparison between those PhysX versions, I know 2.8.4 makes numerous performance improvements (Which is why we AMD users don't see single digit framerate figures outside of the heaviest scenes, boss battles and such.) but I wonder how it compares to 3.0.1 or what it's currently at.
(Which also adds more functionality thus finally fully replacing the capabilities offered by the AGEIA PPU card.)

EDIT: Then again it had to be 2.8.4 since it uses APEX and that was only recently made 3.0 compatible with it's 1.2 update.
http://physxinfo.com/news/8692/welcome-nvidia-apex-1-2-first-apex-with-physx-3-support/
(Hitman: Absolution will also use 2.8.4)

EDIT: Latest seems to be 3.2.1
http://physxinfo.com/news/9044/updated-physx-sdk-3-2-1-is-released/

EDIT: Mafia 2 might be 2.8.3 but I've not found a confirmation about it.

You should really keep it on high even if it cripples the performance a bit. The details are simply stunning.

I can't do anything else but laugh when comparing this to the console versions, comparison done by IGN ofc without showing off what the PC can do.

It's difference like night and day but whatevs. I'm enjoying it to the max Very Happy

The big thing about 3.0 is that it finally adds multithreading and uses SSE on the CPU. SSE alone cuts the time required for some operations to less than half of what they used to be. Not everything, so it's certainly not an even improvement across the board, but depending on what it's used for, 3.0 can improve performance over 2.8.x by a factor 2 to 8 or so; let alone 3.2 which is optimised even further. Even in that APEX post you linked you can see my point about how PhysX fails so horribly at doing what most people think it does (doing it on the GPU). Even APEX runs 2-3x faster - proving just how much of PhysX runs on the CPU. The problem is that the parts that DO run on the GPU are also the parts that are overused like crazy, which is what causes the ridiculous slow downs when you don't have an Nvidia GPU.

Oh and the separate PhysX DLL is a 2.8.4 feature. That was its main feature.
