No information yet but with the Ashes starting in July we reckon Q3 2013 is most likely. Hopefully slightly earlier.
What platforms is the game for?
505 Games say "home consoles" and PC. Speculate all you like about what that means.
Didn't Trickstar make International Cricket 10? Will this just be an updated version of that?
Yes, they did make IC10 with Codemasters but AC13 will be "built from scratch" according to producer Jamie Firth.
Do England cricket players really play cricket video games?
We understand that they used to but now it's all FIFA, PES and F1. Something must be done.
When can the first screen shots be expected?
Not this side of Xmas: I'd expect you to start seeing visuals sometime around February...
How far along is the game in development right now?
It's approximately an 18 month development cycle, or two babies. On that, we currently have one baby and the second has been conceived.
When can we expect a website?
That I don't know, but I would expect around the same time as visuals (pretty boring website otherwise!)
SUMMON THE PRIDE OF A NATION THIS SUMMER WITH ASHES CRICKET 2013
Live the action on all formats from 21 June 2013
This summer, 505 games puts you in control of the ultimate rivalry in Test cricket with ASHES CRICKET 2013. To be released for the start of the 2013 Investec Ashes Series, ASHES CRICKET 2013 offers unique and realistic features for cricket fans and gamers alike.
Whether playing on X360, PS3, Wii U or PC, dynamic game play adds variety to each match. Players will have to adapt to varying and altering pitches; whether it’s a green seaming wicket or deteriorating fifth day pitch susceptible to spin and bounce. Weather forecasts will also change, altering the course of the match; overcast conditions will be more conducive to swing, while sunny days are a batsman’s paradise.
ASHES CRICKET 2013 includes a brand new game engine creating a truly authentic gaming experience. Batsmen have 360 degree control over shot placement, requiring impeccable placement and timing to build an innings. A new line and length bowling system gives bowlers the tools to set plans for batsmen throughout a day’s play and players have complete freedom to set a field of their choice. For those who prefer to be led however, there are options for intelligent automatic field placement.
Connoisseurs of the game will be able to play the complete 2013 Investec Ashes Series, with official England and Australia teams, however those more interested in the short form of the game can take on the rest of the world in limited overs tournaments and leagues.
“We are delighted to be able to announce some of the key features for ASHES CRICKET 2013,” commented Ralph Pitt-Stanley, General Manager for UK & Export at 505 Games. “This game has been created with real cricket fans and players in mind. The new engine allows players to mimic a cricketers most important attribute, his technique.”
Further details on ASHES CRICKET 2013 will be revealed exclusively over the coming months via the official website community forums at Ashes Cricket 2013 – The Video Game, via Facebook at www.facebook.com/ashescricket2013 and Twitter www.twitter.com/ashescricket13 .

Well ok. The match being played was at Lords. The character models looked really stiff, very limited animations, lots of rough edges and the lighting and textures looked like a PS2 game.
The least you would expect from a cricket game in 2013 is for a shot to be accompanied by the appropriate stroke animation, but it seemed all over the place. Like the animation would be for a front foot, open-faced defensive block to a delivery outside off stump and the ball would speed to the boundary on the on side. Then there was the fielding.
You'd never actually see the ball travel into the keeper's or fielders's hands or see the keeper move his gloves in place to catch the ball. It was like the keepers hands would stay static and the ball would end up somewhere else and then just teleport into his gloves.
There was a lot of talk about what the devs plan to implement in the game, but the basics that I saw didn't inspire a lot of confidence. They spoke about how this game was designed to also be relevant when The Ashes went to Australia. They would do this by constantly updating the game with new kits, stats, players, rosters, etc. They even talked about how the pitch would deteriorate and how changes in pitch and cloud cover would affect gameplay. They also spoke about dynamic commentary eg commentators would tell you to get a move on if you were behind the required run rate. But the build on show itself didnt have any commentary or maybe the volume was turned all the way down.

If a cracked version appears I might give it a whirl just to see how bad it is. The last one I tried was for the 360 back in about 2007 or so. Accuracy wasn't quite its thing. You know something is off when Glenn McGrath is scoring a triple century off 50 balls against a World XI.

Just hate that SkyNews seems to cover it a little too much.
Thats typical Sky.
before they acquired (read stole from free to air) the F1 rights you would be forgiven for thinking that F1 even existed if you used Sky.
now they have the rights its wall to wall F1 and you would believe that they always thought it was the greatest of motor sport and have conviently forgotten their backing of the A1GP
If they lose cricket to BT then they wont even cover it , they only cover what they have the rights too and Cricket is a big seller for them (lots of strange people apparently, my father in law included)
