I think they are right, this is not the time for graphical adventure games, and it probably will never be again.
While some companies still make these adventure games, I would imagine their profit is nowhere near big FPS/strategy/rpg, etc games. For the most part these games are made by freelance developers on small budgets, and they yield small profits.
Regardless of it being the sequel to a good game, your average gamer knows nothing about Sam and Max, and seeing LucasArts name on the box isnt going to sell them on it. I doubt they would make much if any profit from the game, and simply meeting and exceeding the quality of the first would be a longshot.
Simply put its a very risky business proposition, and not a very smart one either.

this is really too bad. nearly every PC game coming out is either an FPS or RTS, with the rare Action-Adventure or RPG worth noting.
i love the "cartoonish action/adventure" games from Lucasarts, and wish they would do more.
hell with the petition, i agree it does not help.

Full Throttle 2 would have sucked, IMHO. There was a lot of bad buzz going around about how it just couldn't live up to the original.
Sam and Max 2 on the other hand, was a different story. The dev team themselves were enthusiastic about the game, and it showed. I loved the trailer to the game, and it seemed like it captured the humor of the first game perfectly. It's too bad Lucas Arts didn't have the guts to complete this game and publish it.
But I have to say, signing the petition is a lot better than NOT signing it. Not signing it on the belief that it won't do any good anyway if you DO sign it is retarded thinking. That kind of defeatist attitude leads nowhere. It probably won't help anything but at least you can show the game publishers there's still interest in high-quality adventure games out there.

btw. i never tried Syberia II. is it as good as lucas arts games?
and do i need to start with syberia 1 ?
and is Shadow of Destiny a good adventure game ? |
Yeap. You should start with first part of game because second is just continue of the story. But syberia is average at all. Im just waiting for Runaway the road adventure 2 and the longest journey 2 - sequels of best point'n click games in last few years that were owned by fps/rts/rpg and others...

Shadow of destiny is one of the best adventure games I've ever played. Epic story, multiple endings and really good puzzles. The graphic is out of Date, but who cares.
