Not sure about the others but yeah I was talking about a different mission and map. You're in Dark Valley, on the mission to kill the bandit leader and find the secret lab entrance?
Because the mission I was talking about is where you have to find a family gun for a guy from Bar, near to that downed helicopter of the scientists.

Yes, the entrance to the underground tunnel is right near the downed chopper. It's almost impossible to miss it if you explore well enough.

It's not that mission.
You are talking about familly rifle mission (bloodsuckers, chopper tec).
I'm talking about dutyers gun. It's the same location where Borov is.
http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/file/540331/47936
Quote: | FIND THE WEAPON OF THE DUTYER
Client: Dutyer (at the bar)
Reward: Slug artifact
Speak to Dutyer, the Duty member getting drunk inside the bar, and take on this
job before going to Dark Valley to obtain the lab key from Borov. Once inside
the bandits' base, navigate to the lower level just below Borov's position.
Kill the bandit named Friar standing in the corridor outside the weapons and
armor stash to obtain the Storming Obokan. At the next opportunity, return to
the bar and speak with Dutyer. Hand over the weapon to obtain the reward. |
But i can't find that guy or gun :/

Did they ever say that the freeplay mode would be a free addon? If they are making announcements at E3, it sounds like it will be something added to a special edition of the game.

In first instance I was disappointed in this game, I didn't like it and put it aside. Good thing that I gave it a second try, this game is great and very addictive! The player should get a shotgun or submachinegun right from the start, the knife and pistols are lame and make the beginning frustratingly difficult.

STALKER prequel (50 years back) based on the same engine will be shown @ the new E3. Release date: Spring 2008.
STALKER sequel is in the making with a "when it's done" release date. It will be using a different licensed engine. Some details may be announced @ E3. p.s. My money is on Crysis engine or maybe even iD5.

Hell yes it does! This has been a trademark feature since the first engine revision. I suggest you read up on the engine capabilities as well as take a look at the upcoming games.

I dunno, you got your PC clogged up with malware?
I have a 4000+, 2gb, 1900xtx, and can run it in 1920x1200 with full dynamic lighting and almost all settings turned to full.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky Revealed [July 11, 2007, 10:41 am ET]
New S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game revealed on Computer and Video Games has word that GSC Game World has plans to go nuclear (nucular?) again in a follow-up to their first-person shooter to be released in the first half of next year. The revelation, excerpted from the print issue #184 of PC Zone magazine (on sale July 19), offers some details on the game, set in a more hostile environment than the original, here's an excerpt:
PC Zone explains that Clear Sky's game world consists for 50 percent new territory and 50 percent twisted renditions of what you've played before.
Sitting comfortably with the main storyline is an AI-driven stalker war. Players will be able to ally themselves with any of eight factions and work with them to seize control of important locations and ultimately assault enemy faction bases.
Even though you may think you're a stalker god, the factions think otherwise until you prove your worth. So, you start out as a rookie and have to climb up the ranks. At the top of the ladder you'll be handed missions more intrinsic to winning the war.
It's explained that players are not forced into joining factions, but apparently the destruction of one of the primary groups is necessary to open up the main 'path' to the heart of Clear Sky's main event.
On the fixing/tweaking side, work's being done on the interface and the PDA (they need it), with AI receiving a general overall buff too to boost immersion along with physics. New monsters are a definite, and GSC's even said to be slaving away to provide a DirectX 10 version of the game, although it's not promising this will actually materialise.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky. Official announcement.
11 July 2007
GSC Game World announces S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky for PC, the official prequel to the most atmospheric game of 2007 – Survival FPS S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.
The story of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky brings the players one year prior to the events of the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game in 2011.
A group of stalkers has for the first time reached the very heart of the Zone – Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, and brings about a cataclysm on the brink of a catastrophe. An immense blowout of anomalous energy changes the Zone. There are no more reliable and relatively safe roads. The entire levels vanish in the outbursts of anomalies. Stalkers and even expeditions die or end up sealed on the lost territories. New areas, which remained unknown since the time of the Zone emergence, appear on the Zone map. The Zone continues to shake with blowouts. The Zone is unstable. The anomalous activity is at its maximum.
Changes of the Zone map known to stalkers shake the fragile balance of forces in the Zone. Among the groupings, there flare up hostilities for the new territories, artifact fields and spheres of influence. There are no more old enemies or friends – now everyone is for himself. The Factions War has started between the groupings.
The protagonist is a mercenary who appeared at the edge of the opposition between stalker factions, Strelok and even the Zone itself. The main character will have to play the key role in the events, which led to creation of the Zone up to the point from which the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game begins.
What’s waiting for stalkers in the opened depths of the Zone? Which new challenges bear in the new territories? Why blowouts continue shaking the Zone? Why did the Zone change? How to remove its instability? Which faction will take the upper hand in the clan opposition? Why did Strelok end up in the death truck? What happened to Strelok prior to that? Was there any other choice to make? These and many other questions will get answered in the official prequel S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky.
Experienced stalkers and newbies! Get ready for the new challenges in the exclusion zone in Q1 2008.
Game features:
Atmosphere of the Exclusion Zone
Research of new depths of the Zone – Red Forest, Limansk, Pripyat Undergrounds and more.

the thing what is happening to me is i play game for several minutes, and after all screen goes all black, my monitor goes off live w/o video signal but computer keeps running without reset. i suggest its GPU blackout/reset. caused by game or by catalyst drivers, or by game in catalyst drivers. I have ATi 1950Pro with 512MB VRAM, turned GFX on Full Dynamic. I've tried it on 1.0001 even on 1.0003 version but still without success. did somebody reported such a bug? i dont know how to solve it.

are you overclocking your GPU? i had same situation with Oblivion. when i overclocked too much i got blackout but game was still running. i downclocked my GPU a little and since then i had no problems at all. so if u are overclocking try to downclock and then you should be fine

thats the thing, i dont have GPU overclocked. I have just my CPU overclocked Opteron144 1.8@2,7. AAh... dont like to bother with downclocking just because one game.
cant understand why its happening, everything can go fine for about 4 - 5 minutes, and after it goes out. is it some protection feature/bug? or just bad programming?

It could be a power issue i had the same trouble with the 1950pro on my old motherboard, but it happened in every game as soon as i fired up a game the monitor would shut down. A new motherboard and power-pack fixed it.

i just finished stalker and had this Spoiler: | i wanna be a rich | ending. what are conditions to get different endings? i must say that i liked the game... but two last levels sucked donkey balls. i expected more atmospheric ones since its epicenter of chernobyl disaster.
8/10 for me (with mods, without them game is lame)

Just to let ppl know, freeplay is reportedly coming in the (oft delayed) 1.004 patch. It will mean, when you beat the game, you can roam the whole map and do quests and so on without restrictions. Pretty mouth-watering addon feature if ya ask me. Besides this they also say there will be an option to un-nerf the AI, so that the AI characters are under no restrictions.
Not sure how soon its coming, tho, and cant quite locate the changelog that revealed this.

Other than freeplay, of course.

Several of the engine changes are in the 1.0004 exe file so replacing it with the 1.0003 exe might cause issues though it's possible the game starts.
The patch updated quite a few files this time but as it includes the other patches it's hard to say wich changes are1.0004 specific.
Unins000.exe / Unins000.dat (Probably to allow it to delete the new files.)
Stalker/Bin - All files updated and replaced, probably due to the performance fixes.
Gamedata.dbb - The file that contains all the updated game files.
Gamedata.dbb:
Scripts folder (All files, probably alot from older patches.)
Textures folder (Several files, some might be from older patches.)
Shaders folder (R1/R2 folder only added a new file so still Float32 compatible.)
Spawn/All.spawn (Might be from 1.0001 or it will require a restart if it's a new update.)
Levels folder (Looks like all files were changed.)
Gamedata.graph (Unsure what this does.)
Config folder (Looks like all files were replaced.)
Final changelog.
(Freeplay and extreme difficulty is still slated for the 1.1 patch)
Code: |
-= 1.0004 =-
Saved games.
Saved games from 1.0003 version will work with 1.0004 version.
