Dammit, I'm running the unpatched version on XP (Itwins) and it worked yesterday with latest dtpro and yasu, but somehow it detects either yasu or dtpro now :/

For Windows 7 64bit I've found that Ctrl/Alt/Del/ Task Manager/Applications/End Task doesnt work with Y.A.S.U 1.6 9040 and DT Lite 4.30.4 but Task Manager/Processes/End Now does.Thats what works for me anyway. So try selecting End Now in Processes not End Task in Applications.

Correct apcarr, that's what I did with Genesis and iTwins release and always worked fine.

End Process, not Application!

We wouldn't be using it otherwise m8

I ditched Vista x64 for the beta and had no regrets and now we're almost at RTM so a lot has been improved since. I'm running b7229 x64

If you have a lap with Vista on it def ditch that for Win 7 because it's much lighter on recources and has that XP snappy response (even better)

Only reason to wait ditching Vista is waiting for RTM release.

with the following:
Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz
2 GB Ram (windows xp)
512 MB geforce 7900GTX should I even bother picking this up?

I can play GTAIV on this quite acceptably, is arma much more demanding than that?
I don't need to play everything maxed to be happy, so long as it doesn't look like 1995

ArmA2 is demanding, especially in some campaign missions. For me, it also seems to start stuttering a little after playing for a while, not sure. Better play some Overlord 2 until ArmA2 is more optimized.

what makes it demanding? Is it video or CPU? I don't mind turning shit down, but not much I can do about CPU.

It's CPU

I remember the original Operation Flashpoint having one mission that recommended that you had a certain spec processor to play it, maybe some of the missions in this should have the same Very Happy

I believe it's CPU-demanding. In any case you should download the game anyway, whether you install it or not. (Itwins rlz)

Funny thing with this is, I installed it so many times trying to get the english to work (until I gave up) that I wrote a program to insert serials in standard windows that ... ask for serial.

Only sometimes, but most of the time doesn't look that good tbh. While models look great, the world itself looks pretty crap, especially the ground. Same ground texture repeating over and over again in the distance, also same grass bushes repeating over and over. Trees looks pretty crappy too.

@VGAdeadcafe: So no luck yet with english yet m8? I'm holding my key purchase then until someone can fix this.

It does look good, high res textures in combination with shadow cast can make it realistic.

Repetive ground texture is what we know since Oblivion/Gothic games and is because of large open areas rendering.

I was playing with shadows on normal because I needed the frames but that changed after I noticed what a big difference high shadows brings.

My settings with 8800GT (have Q6600 @ 3Ghz though) are:

Video and texture: very high
Postprocess: disabled (too much of everything)
Shadows: high (need the frames but I'm not going back to polygon cast shadows)
AA: disabled
Object, terrain and aniso on normal.

Those settings make my game play smooth.

How do the "start the game in english" as required by the following directions:

#1 - Install iTwins release
#2 - use SecuRom app/tools on page 42
#3 - Start game in english (from menu)
#4 - Stop game
#5 - Install patch 1.02
#6 - Game should be 100% legal in Enlgish - No mods needed?

There is no Menu. The in-game menu doesn't allow you to change the language.

We already established that the game menu is locked for serials that are localized damnit !

For some serials it is unlocked.

Read the previous pages.

Can't be arsed downloading this. I'm sure I'm gonna buy it anyway. If it has half the shelf life of the prequel it's a steal even if it cost twice as much.

There's gonna be a lot of updates, patches, addons and so on. I can't be bothered checking up on several forums, downloading one patch here, one crack and a keygen there anymore. When a particular dev has a good rep of continued development I tend to just buy their product. It's less hazzle.

you'd only need to buy a legit serial if you're interested in multiplayer but then you might aswell get the whole box

yeah I know about that, thing about these key stores is that you don't know what version of the game you're getting, like Steam keys where you'd get a censored TF2 etc
better off with a box imo

I guess I was lucky. The key I got from onlinekeystore.com is not localized. Like Firemaster, I can select the language from the game options menu
