Haha, I love it when fanboys wake up after someone have talked in a negative way about their precious console. Smile

not sure what this is about..umm you do realize that this thread is labeled [GameCube] Resident Evil IV? so really people should be talking about the other versions on another thread, unless someone just enjoys trolling? and btw, i happen to own a gamecube and an xbox(for mostly media center and emulation stuff, great for that) and have a ps2 that a friend dropped off and never picked up. of course the pc is always console of choice. but nevertheless unless you have something insightful to add to the discussion about the game, please dont say anything at all. got it? Smile

Hehe.
If you read your post you would know why I called you a fanboy.

Quote 1:
"first of all the ps2 will be a dumbed down(graphically at least) version"

You have no idea whatsoever if this will be the case, therefor you are a fanboy for saying it. The ps2 can even be better looking. There are plenty of multiplatform games where the gamecube version comes in last. The most recent is nfsu2 which runs alot worse on the gamecube than on the ps2, and looks worse.

Quote 2:
"anyways tho the reality is if anyone wants to play this game in all its glory they gotta get the gamecube"

Again, you cant possible know this unless you work at capcom.
Maybe the ps2 version (and maybe xbox) will get extras, they have the time to put some extra things in you know Wink And they also have the time to polish the game ever further since it's so far off.

These are good examples on how a bad fanboy act Smile
Beeing a fanboy isn't always a bad thing you know so you shuldn't take it so serious. A good fanboy is a fanboy that can think a game can be better on another platform even though he own another. Smile

So anyone actually play yet besides me? Smile

As I was sayin' the other thread, you cannot strafe in this game, and that really hurts the gameplay. You can't even move once you aim your weapon, it makes it real tough to get around corners where enemies are waiting. The c-stick used for looking around also feels very limited, and not very useful.

The view is also something that bothers me a bit, it feels TOO close to the guy, it feels like he blocks too much and walking around is kind of a pain. I wish it could have been zoomed out a bit more, and when you go to aim your weapon, it would zoom in more over the shoulder. As it stands now though, you are constantly looking everywhere and it makes you feel a little ill. Razz

The graphics are pretty top-notch, a little bit short of what we were led to believe from videos, but they are still great.

Sound is eerie so far, only one part have I been disappointed, I was waiting outside a group of enemies and they kept looping like the same three sounds, was a little silly. Otherwise we have people yelling, dogs howling in the background, crows doing what crows do, it's a very spooky environment.

The game has succesfully scared the crap out of me already.

***Small spoiler ahead***

There was a part with four trees blocking a path, I saw some trip wire between the 1st and 2nd tree, and another wire between the 3rd and 4th trees. So I figured no problem, I'll just walk through the middle. I start walkin' my guy through, BOOM, big bear trap snapped my leg. Almost dropped my controller on that one.. Razz

***End spoiler***

When you find hostile locals they yell some nonsense at you and hulk toward you angrily, definately is not a friendly place and maintains its scary environment, especially when you here certain guys tossing hatchets at you while you're dealing with a guy wielding a pitchfork in front of you.

The surroundings are very well done, bodies hung up everywhere, rotten food, nasty water, run down houses everywhere, lots of burning decay out in some shady lookin' woods.

The gameplay is pretty decent, feels like your basic walk around, investigate objects, and shoot people. You hold down your right trigger button to aim your gun and it's pretty cool you can shoot people in the legs to make them stumble, or you can just aim for the head to blow it off and put 'em out. Smile They react to where you shoot them, if you hit them in the shoulder they are thrown back, in the head they are just really blown back and turned around, in the knees their legs collapse. There is some wierd kicking thing you can do that I haven't quite figured out yet, but when you have like 6 crazed locals with axes and pitchforks coming at you, you can kick one of them and he'll go crashing into the guys behind him and knock them all down, this will give you some time to figure out what you need to do.

There are also action things you can do around certain objects, like jump through windows - essentially leaping into the fray. It's also very creeping to see the crazed local folk come leaping out of windows at you. In most situations you will not be able to stand and fire, you're going to be running around looking for ways out of some terrible situations. This is where the clunky controlls also seem to hurt you, the game is very playable though.

The story seems a little bland so far, seems the people are behind some evil cult leader or something, president's daughter is kidnapped.. ok? Doesn't really fit the scheme, but we'll see where it goes.

All in all, so far this game is excellent, the graphics are great, the gameplay is much improved over old style RE games, and despite some control clunkiness and limitations, the game is really kicking ass, really living up to the expectations.
