After playing this a couple of hours I have to say it´s not really my kind of game. The first part was great and I played it two times straight to the end but this one lacks of the "right" atmosphere. So before anybody shoots me or gonna ask if I played the right CoJ-BiB... YES I DID! The game is sorta... soft?! The way you are guided through the world and story feels console like. It plays like a colourful jump and run. Ok the duells are funny as hell but I had never the feeling to make my own decisions. Maybe I´m missing the soul of an real open world game. No not my game...

Pro: The game is well designed and the gfx are superb!

It is certainly more linear than the other. However, you do eventually get to places where you can roam freely and even take on side-missions for cash, before proceeding further with the story.

I miss the right mouse button where you'd put your hand over the gun and that way could shoot faster. That was a great trick in the orginal Call of Jaurez

The unlock code for golden revolvers will only work if you push new game, 'cause if you have already began playing chapter 1 and press continue-it ain't working, the revolvers are simple...
Pressed the new game and only after that i got the bonus golden ones Smile

Pretty good game. The levels and missions aren't as fun as the original Call of Juarez, but I enjoyed the banter between the McCall brothers. The levels in this one felt a bit too much "on rails". I don't think I strayed from the obvious path a single time really. Finished on normal in 5:40h. Picked Ray at every opportunity, such a cool character. I was a bit disappointed in the cash system. The extra missions to gain cash felt very pointless. Not much difference between the weapons you could buy, really. I wish ammo had been more important. I didn't even come close to running out of ammo a single time in the game. The story was EXTREMELY predictable, which I guess is OK for a western... But I wish there had been a not so obvious twist or two. The setting and atmosphere of the game is great though.

It didn't hurt that it ran very well with everything on high at max resolution on my average computer. 7/10 is how I would rate the game. Definately worth playing through, if not just for the Ray McCall character.

Kind of hard to have a twist in the story when it's a prequel.

Yeah, I know. But they could've thrown something in there. You knew exactly what would happen pretty much the very first minutes of the game, and as soon as a new character was introduced it was easy to guess his exact motives.

I just started playing it and it doesn't feel like the original at all for some reason, a bit of a let down imo.

I like the cover system, although it could be better.

Very good potential, Blind-fire in First person shooters? Smile

Finally finished it. Terrific game from start to finish. Wasn't any more 'linear' than the first, since the first was very linear. I loved the free roam chapters with the side quests. Could have used about 100 more. I'd play those all damn day if I could. Riding around on horseback killing indians was great fun.

Anyone find any content codes? I found one to unlock weapons for the first 2 chapters, and gives you a little bonus cash.. but that's it. Not much help really since you can have 2 superb pistols and a superb rifle halfway through anyway.

Bonus code. :}

EDIT: Searched for it via a hex editor in the CoJ2_x86.dll file, there's also another code there.

585A926D

EDIT: Does the same as the previous code.

The first level is a big tutorial, it isn't representative.
I agree the game's a bit too too much on rails, but I must say this one has alot more atmosphere than the first one.

Technically the game seems to be a bit dated, but it runs smooth as silk with good graphics. Lipsynching though is very bad imo. The audio also seems to have an irirtating high pitch. Is that normal?

Is there a way to improve the graphics beyond the max settings? The pop-ins are getting fucking annoying.

And why am I not allowed to kill civilians?

Why do you have a problem with not being able to? It's just not a game where you kill women and children. Go shoot some chickens instead.

Because the brothers are portrayed as vicious, bloodthirsty killers. Killing for fun, money and boredom is right up their alley.
And if I accidentally lob some explosives in the near vicinity of any living being, I expect the same consenquences for everyone involved.
God mode should be the priviledge of the player, not the NPC.

Ok I thought the smily speaks for himself... Arrow Arrow Arrow Very Happy (this graphical addition to my comment means: it´s NOT meant so serious) but If you wanna make a serious discussion about a "funny" meant, rethorical question... (this graphical addition to my comment means: I´m absolutely not in the mood to explain the meaning of smileys)

nope imho. both have a closed story and the "call of juarez" is only an alibi story. the game is about the characters

(p.s. and NOT shooting at civilians^^)

Actually this one is a prequel. If anything you'd probably want to play this one first. IMHO
