Well then that must be the problem. Then again, people kept telling me how a joystick was crucial for flying - bought a top of the line stick and throttle and they provided nowhere near the control and precision as using the keyboard did. Analog input is way overrated imo.

What did you try it on? HAWX? Laughing On proper sims, it is almost impossible with the 360 controller, let alone with digital. Smile

No not HAWX - Enemy Engaged 2, DCS Blackshark, and Battlefield 2 (which back in the hayday I worked my way up to #12 on the helicopter ranking board). Keyboard+mouse combo FT Epic win - $200 Thrustmaster HOTAS setup has been gathering dust for a while now.

Bit off topic but I figured it was worth making the point

$15 on Steam is tempting me, although I'm not much of a racing games fan.

Is there any benefit for having it legal? online playing maybe?

Gave it another go, this time with PS3 SixAxis controller. While the control felt smoother, the handling was still shit when it came down to it. They ought to rename it GRASS instead of GRID - because if a blade of grass so much as touches your windscreen you spin out.

Seriously you need to learn to drive and use analog pressure correctly.

I couldn't get the handling right with my dual-trigger gamepad. It's hard to hit the magic spot with all the deadzones, linearity, sensitivity and all that bullshit. Also, turned the driving assists off.

I then uninstalled it, I don't need this shit right now.

Are there any customization options for the cars in GRID? I only briefly played this when it first came out on the 360, but I might get it for the PC now since FUEL completely sucks.

Not really no, the point here is the driving, not the mongering in the garage.

The only costumization is chosing a paint job, setting the colors for the different parts of the paint and placing sponsor decals into pre-placed slots what gives you money if you manage to complete their requirements (finish above a certain position, take no damage, or just finish at all). Not spectacular, but does the job very well in creating believable looking race cars.

As for engine and whatever-tinkering inside the car? Nope...

Bah humbug, Logitech ought to make some exorbitantly priced uber keyboard that could handle these simulator racers (yes yes GRID isn't a proper sim) as well as a gamepad.

Because of my leet KB skilz I can win even on higher difficulties without spinning around uncontrollably or whatever, but it's definitely not optimal and I have to be real careful with sharp turns and using the handbrake.

I miss the days of the original race driver, spent evenings, nights and mornings playing demolition races, it was so much fun, cars lost loads of parts, went skyhigh, and kept on going.

Five mini coopers driving a few inches from eachother and then crashing one against the other in the corner, pushing the one in front a couple of hundred yards higher in the sky. Most fun i've ever had in any game. Missing the purpose of the game completely Very Happy

Yet another fail from teh Codies..the game was pretty fun online (and well populated too since it doesn't require any cd-key ), fortunately GR saved it from the oblivion

so it’s a happy ending for everyone. Apart from Playstation 3 gamers. They’re screwed. Perhaps they should put down their controllers and join us online?

Can't remember which version is that, should include most of the tracks though.
