Because PunkBuster devs are incredibly stuck up, ignorant and arrogant faggots they have 0 support for Windows 7 as of yet. Official response is "we don't support beta OS". Now that Win7 has hit RTM status more and more people will move to Win7 so I thought this thread would be a great idea to warn people about PB devs' ignorance.

Here's the list of games that I own and play online. I'm aware that there are some tricks to get some games working in Win7 and they worked for some people and for others they didn't. This is a list of which games work and don't work out of the box in Win7 RTM without any voodoo magic.

Games that don't work:
Battlefield 2
Battlefield 2142
Call of Duty 2
Call of Duty 4

Games that work:
Call of Duty: World at War
Quake Live

OK here's an update.

I found easy solution that works with almost every game on Win7 x64 RTM.

1. Download PBSetup.exe here http://websec.evenbalance.com/downloader/download.php?file=1
2. Download PBSVC.exe here http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/pbsvc/pbsvc.exe
3. Use PBSetup.exe to update PB for all your games.
4. Now start PBSVC.exe and PBSetup.exe (run as administrator if you have UAC enabled).
5. Leave these exes running and play any game.

I tested this with BF2, BF2142, CoD4 and all worked. I played for an hour or more without getting kicked by PB any more. Doesn't work with CoD2 and Enemy Territory.

That doesnt fix PB with Windows 7, when you do that
and if server have level 1 restriction
It show you "Unknown Windows Api Error [131133]", and kicked you from server.
I have two servers with Wolfenstein ET installed there, and when I opened ticket to Everbalance, they told me that there isnt any CVAR or other command that FIX problem with Windows 7 at this time.

I didn't say this trick works for ALL games, but for most it does. Looks like ET is another game that it doesn't work with.

Alright, I found another solution that works with every game that I tried.

Go to C:\Windows\SysWOW64 (or System32 if you are still on 32bit) and change compatibility mode of PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe to Vista SP2 for all users (properties->compatibility->change settings for all users)

Then go to C:\Users\****\AppData\Local\PunkBuster and change compatibility of PnkBstrB.exe (and PnkBstrA.exe if there is one) to Vista SP2 for all users for each game that kicks you with unknown API error.

Now kill any running punkbuster processes and start the game, processes will be restarted with the new compatibility settings. I didn't try Wolf ET but I tried every other game that I listed above and it worked.
