My 14 year old watched Watchmen today.
I left him alone in the TV room.
He walked out, came into my office and decalred,
"Ok. THAT was the best freakin' movie EVER!"

Me so proud that he doesn't just look for action flicks. He said he liked it because it was a totally different take on the superhero genre and had a great story. Imagine that.
Very Happy

Oh, and it was the 1080p Director's Cut version.

Cool Smile

My dad called me up earlier and asked if he could come over and watch it tomorrow lol Smile I said sure as long as he makes some calamari Very Happy

Watchman - 9/10

Great flick, to much sex and out of place music at times (neun und neunzcih luft ballon wtf) keep it from a perfect score.

Very different movie and the ending is great, can't say enough about the acting, outstanding!

Well actually 99 Luftballons fit the particular scenario (threat of nuclear war) and fits the year which the film is set it.

The song came during a period of escalating rhetoric and strategic maneuvering between the United States and the Soviet Union in the Cold War. In particular, its international chart success followed the United States deployment of Pershing II missiles in West Germany in January 1984 (in response to the Soviet deployment of new SS-20 nuclear missiles), which prompted protests across western Europe. The following month, Nena topped the UK Singles Chart with "99 Red Balloons" for three weeks, starting in 28 February 1984. Unusually, in the United States the German version was more successful, charting at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. On March 26, 1984, it was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America, for shipment of over 500,000 copies. "99 Luftballons" became the first German-language record to reach the top ten on the US charts since "Sailor (Your Home Is the Sea)" by Lolita in 1961. Although the German version was the hit version in America, both the German and English versions receive radio airplay in the United States today.

Too much sex? It only had two real sex scenes if I remember correctly. It's beyond me how no one complains about the violence (which was fine IMO, but if I wanted to complain about the movie being too mature that would be my starting point) but if they show a CGI penis or a sexcene that looks believable people go nuts. Thank god I was raised in Europe.

It's a song about global war starting due to a misunderstanding. 99 balloons get confused for an air strike and provoke retaliation. Fits great in the movie IMO.

The music playing while the sexscenes wan't fitting. And the usage of 99 luftballons wasn't good too. Yeah it fit's the theme but it wasnt well implemented Smile

And synders useless slowmotion was totally overdone. And the scene where they rescued the people from the burning building was absolutely stupid! "Oh the roof is going to break" "Yeah let's flush thousands of liters of water on it" "oh and I'll jump on the roof and fall exactly through the roof and not the level below. And I'll just go and open the window for the people, as those stupid mexicans are not intelligent enough to open the window themselves to enter the owl."

There is a reason why this stupid shit was NOT in the comic.

Well that's why they put it in I guess, still I did not think it fitted during that particular scene while watching the movie maybe it fits historically but not musically, the intro song was very good though imo

I love the motion comics, I'm to lazy to read comics on the pc Laughing well they are more like a comic animated series, pretty cool, wish someone would do the same for Nathan Never.

Seems like they follow the movie (well vice-versa to be exact) to the letter, except the ending which I hear is different.

Män Som Hatar Kvinnor (2009) - 7.5/10

Nice story about a missing girl, but it could be shorter, because the sex and rape scenes was not necessary and had notting to do with the story.

Bruno - 9/10

I normally dont watch movies that look like they could be made for the mentally retard, but this movie had me holding my sides as I couldn't stop laughing. From the first couple scenes, all the way to the last scene with the music, I was laughing extremely hard.

Terminator: Salvation 6/10

Not too unsurprising. Bale does a pretty meagre John Connor, and while all the VFX are impressing, it is the actors and the story that's supposed to make it work. I also recognice a lot of re-usals from T2, like pacing, scenes, chases, even music. This seems desperate to me, instead of daring to do something new, they tried to stick too much to the success of the predecessor (I guess it was a money-choice).

The positives about this one is the fact that it's still based on a very solid background story, the atmosphere sometimes is excellent, and the scare-factor from the terminators relentlessness are top-notch. Unfortunately it comes anti-climactic with the cliché "human heart" "super-brain" bullshit.

I also think fisk should be unbanned.

I don't get why people get so offended by stuff like that. I mean, of course I'd get a bit disgusted by it, but I'd also laugh at it.

Though I haven't watched the movie, so I can't judge yet.

Terminator 4 - 5/10

1. Director seems to have seen the previous terminator movies a few too many times to point where he's copying dialogue/action sequences.
2. He also seems to be a student of the Michael Bay school of film-making with all that chopper noise and radio communications.
3. The new machines were cool but the lack of a single nemesis made it a little bland.
4. Bale was a big disappointment and not just because he was not the main character anymore.
5. Too many plot-holes and plain non-sense such as open radio chatter, shocks to the heart, transplants, terminators that beat humans around first instead of just crushing/killing them.

swingman: It was pretty funny... here you got terminators that pretty much can pick up a car and throw it away, but when they grab and punch a human, they do it with like 1/100:th of their strength. In T2 you never really saw a terminator punch a human, because it would be a pulp left of whatever it would've punched. Which is how it's supposed to be.

Humans thrown into a wall, rise and start running... funny stuff.

That's what set the first two movies apart. Those terminators were really scary. Even that chick in the third one was very cheesy with her weapons but she didn't waste time slapping people around.
