One more question before i start installing this WZT release. Does it need any CD key? in my package there is just activator and the iso file.

No, just install without and you'll have 30 days free trial.

Actually you can extend that to 120 days legally.

Yeah, obviously... forgot to mention because I gave it for garanted, since it's the same activation method as with vista. Wink

Got the WZT release, but i am going to wait for another week or so for a good WPA crack to be released.
Don't feel like using the 3x rearm trick.

Wow, first time using 7 and I'm pretty impressed. Overall it feels faster but more importantly there are a lot of UI tweaks that make a big difference in usability. What's funny all the changes they made to make things more intuitive seem like stuff that could have been implemented into a Windows OS 5 years go.

Yeah what I have read so far I am currently better of with the win 7 7100 evaluation copy.

Free activation till somewhere in 2010 ?

And this rtm release that is available needs to be activated somehow and at best you can use it 3x 30 days ?

Not sure why people are moving to the 7600 build already.

Unless I am completely wrong of course.

Why bother with beta OS that is completely fucked up and full of bugs? Wait for retail copy in October. Either way there is no software written for Windows 7.

I did lots of game performance testing of XP SP3 x86 vs Win7 7600.16385 x64 yesterday.
I used the same driver versions, same exact nvidia control panel settings and obviously same exact game cfg's. I used game benchmarking tools or played back the recorded demo so my results could be precise, and here they are:

Call of Duty 4 W7 91fps XP 111fps
CoD: World at War W7 72fps XP 82fps
Team Fortress 2 W7 97fps XP 92fps
Trackmania United Forever W7 98fps XP 115fps
Anno 1404 (ingame cutscene) W7 (DX10) 36fps XP 23fps
Resident Evil 5 W7 (DX10) 75fps XP 69fps

I also tested many other games like Fuel, UT3, GRID and so on, but results in these games are very similar to XP and not worth mentioning.

IMO Win7 is a good gaming OS.

I've installed this RTM and my eyes hurt. i did that Cleartype thing and it was useless.
ehh. no biggie. i think i'll get used to it.
then i installed the new 190 Win 7 drivers from Nvidia. i couldn't select my monitor native resolution 1680x1050. ok...unninstall them and remained with the regular drivers from win . i chose the proper resolution.
i couldn't install my ASUS motherboard drivers.
my bsplayer didn't go in fullscreen when i doubleclicked the window.
received some strange errros like you can't open this program now .
to top it i had some random freezes .just like BAM. FREEZE. restart was the only solution.Saw that many ppl on the internetz reported this .

on the other hand i liked the search function in the start menu.very nice.
and the sound thing where you can volume down some sounds .That's about it.
Installed win xp sp3 in 15 minutes and entered OS Heaven.

I think i'll give win 7 another chance when SP2 arrives.
