You know i have moments where i think a lot at this interesting and complex subject, what life really is ? When you ask yourself who and what am i, the answers come pretty fast but when you start thinking a lot on this subject is not that easy to explain ?

Who are we ? We are humans ( probably for some other civilisations we are called aliens or other freaky names ) Lets talk about the universe, what is it really ? Some say its infinite, but it cant be infinite and ofcourse it cant have borders probably we will never know .

You will probably say im a freak or whatever but i really need to talk about this subject .

oh and i almost forgot :

Life is just the result of chemical reactions. It has no meaning whatsoever, unless we make it meaningful.

As for the Universe, well, I wouldn't be too surprised if it was just an experiment in some kind of lab. I think the only thing hard to understand/explain is what's outside the Universe.

I don't know if there's anything beyond what we see in the universe. But if there's anything, I think it's probably still too ahead of us to understand.

Atm, I can't see any meaning to life. How can there be a meaning if this lasts to infinity?
If there's an afterlife, what the meaning of out existence? Is there a finale? Anything? Just seems pointless living in an afterlife as well, since you never get anywhere...

Oh well, I just think that this is too beyond us to understand atm. Maybe the aliens will know more about it.

Everything we see, touch, smell and all other senses are just things that are interpreted by our brain. Maybe different people experience things in a really weird way compared to how your brain is wired and how your brain interperates things. What was before the universe, what is past it? Is science slowly explaining a god? I like how mass cannot be destroyed, energy is just converted.. etc..

Life is a hit or miss experience. If you're lucky you wont get to question yourself what's the meaning of it, and just live it. If you're unlucky however, you can define it as an opportunity to see, smell, touch, feel, laugh, cry etc. For some, it's waking up in the morning looking up the window feeling the fresh air smelling the red flowers, for others it's about bitches and cash, or games, or religion. Point is, life has a different meaning for each and everyone and all that they can tell you is what life is for them. It's up to you to find what life is for you and why you should enjoy living it.
I also believe that life can be GREAT for EVERYONE, you just got to look harder for them gems.. :/

Life is ambition, life is constantly learning, life is surprising and saddening. Life is mad, life is pain and sorrow.
Life is realising that a moment gone is one you'll never have back.
Life is fear of the unknown. Life is perception and perspective.
Life is realising that you were wrong. Life is hope and forgiveness.
Life is another moment you'll experience.
Life is waking up.
Cherish your life, you will only experience it once.

Depends on the questioning; if you're questioning what you want in a positive/ambitious/harmless way, there's nothing wrong with it, on the contrary. But if you're questioning life in a dissatisfied/fault-finding way, then you're on your way to perdition. It's so easy to find life meaningless and empty, and it's a looong way back from that feeling. As for the moderator's post, wish i could see life like that.. that's beauty right there..

eh, finding your life meaningless might help you get your shit together, which is something i've avoided doing for some years. if, from time to time, you don't look at it in a fault-finding way, you won't see the faults. which kinda makes it hard to fix'em Smile

also liked your poem(?), epsilon. the part about lost moments hit a bit close to home, since, like i said, i feel like i've wasted quite some years of my life, something which might not have happened if i'd looked a bit more closer at what i was doing. these damn moments, so many of them, and so easy not to pay attention to (and enjoy/use) them.

Yes thats the beauty about poems, theres always some meaning to be found you can attribute to your own experiences.
I've also wasted a lot of time, but I think everybody have, hindsight is always 20/20.

The only answer to this question* is the one that makes you happy. That's the only point when you stop searching for an answer. So what is life? An unanswerable question and therefore a choice between depression and happiness.

*and all objectively unanswerable questions

I have my own interpretation of the nature of consciousness, and it's ultimate evolutionary end point.

But this is an intensely personal thing, and it's not something I wish to share. Not only would you not understand it, but it will have little relevance unless you have experienced the things I have.

My best advice would just be to continually examine things in greater and greater detail, firstly look at the atomic level and once you have a complete understanding of this scale slowly take it down to the Planck level(i.e quantum scale). Do this in the opposite direction too, gradually scale up from your standard perspective (astrophysics is good for this).

As your understanding of scale improves, you'll begin to understand some of the more fundamental questions of existence. You can't just ask the 'big questions' you need the framework there to put them in perspective, and recognise their relevance (or lack of it).

A formal scientific education helps you maintain objectivity, but isn't necessary.

I would very much like to hear what you have to say regarding this subject, I have an extremely profound and strong perspective about this very subject and would deeply enjoy to further exchange ideas with someone like yourself, I understand though, if you do not desire to share your ideas over a place such as the internet.

To hell with objectivity! throw it out the window although I can see the strings all I can do is function... brb alcohol

you human weaklings don't know what life is, you don't know why it's here or its meaning, the universe is not only stranger than you suppose but it is stranger than you can suppose, you know might know the how but you can only assume the why
I and only I have the answers, and it passes right before your eyes everyday
the truth = Jesus christ, follow his steps and give me money, give me a lot of money until I become richer than you can suppose.

there it is.

Life is sitting behind a computer screen replying to the question what is life, then realising you don't have enough talent/time/money/any excuse to do something more rewarding, and likely to improve the existance of others.
