My hands are nearly bleeding from typing all that shit but I finally solved the fucking problem! Laughing

I unpacked the dialogue.dv2 file with the above unpacker and then moved the files (Or rather two folders) to the \Data\ folder

Then I changed \Sound\Soundbanks\Win32\German to \Sound\Soundbanks\Win32\English and "finally" I took all the "German.dialog" files here - \Data\Win32\Characters\Dialog\ and changed them to "English.dialog" (Over a 1000 files had to be checked, my hands hurt.)

I'm currently uploading the modified .dialog files as they're pretty small but you neeed to use the unpacker yourselves by dragging the dialog.dv2 file over the EXE and doing the above. Smile

EDIT: I'm just going to upload the entire \Characters\Dialog\ archive as is, might sort it later, 200 MB. (Extract to the folder mentioned above, should be fairly easy once you unpack the .dv2 file)

Well after purchasing the game, you install it, and then make sure it adds a shortcut to your desktop then you double click the short cut and bam, game is running.

Enjoy!

umm.... what was problem with the dialog? did you manage to unpack the files into a folder? and you had a lot of files like xxxx_German.dialog abba_German.dialog? And you had to rename then to xxxx_English.dialog and abba_English.dialog?

... if so:

ren *German*.dialog *English*.dialog works from windows shell.

Though I guess I just understood wrong Smile

No you didn't, I didn't know about that command though. Very Happy

Basically after using the unpacker (Previous page.) I renamed the "sound bank" folder from "German" to "English" and then I went trough the localized files such as BlahBlahGerman.dialog to BlahBlahEnglish.dialog which took ages as I did it manually. Smile
(Don't touch the BlahBlah.dialog, explained on the previous page why there's two of them.)

Everything works just fine with English text and German voice with no files moved or altered. Smile

It's more or less what's up there.

\Data\Win32\Packed\Dialog.dv2 <- Drop the dv2_u.exe file on this to unpack it.

Take the two resulting folders and drop them in the \Data\ folder

Do the above renaming for the "sound bank" files from German to English.

Do the above as well for the German "lip sync" data or what it is.
(I'm uploading a archive with all of it, needs to be sorted a bit but it's still not that big.)

EDIT: XP, Vista shouldn't matter in terms of copy protection it's just that the current SecuROM is pretty advanced and YASU and DTE haven't been updated, some people can still get it to work and burning the disc has worked for a few people as well but I don't know the specifics on what makes one system work while another doesn't manage to emulate the disc.

EDIT: Screen just after the previously buggy tutorial "outro" showing that it works as intended.

(Characters will also animate much better during conversations now due to these files being present, easily seen by replaying the tutorial area.)

EDIT: File uploaded.

Actually from how I understood it the "Text.dialog" is the main file whereas "TextGerman.dialog" (Which is what'll be renamed) is for specific languages like in this case the German speech. (Lip-sync data was mentioned, might be it.)

Both are needed, albeit the default files are supplied from the Dialog.dv2 archive.
(My archive is a bit messy and includes them anyway but I might sort it trough later, would save a bit on download size.)

I'll go trough it as detailed as I can then. Smile

In the registry set the language of the Larian key or rather it's Language string value to English.

Unpack the Dialog.dv2 file by draging ot over the unpacker exe (dv2_u.exe).

Copy the resulting "Sound" and "Win32" folders to "Gamefolder\Data\"

In the "sound" folder go to "\Soundbanks\Win32\" and rename the "German" folder to "English" and then go to the "\Win32\Characters\Dialogs" and place the .English files there from the archive. (Smaller version currently uploading, only needed files in it now.)

Start the game and play, should work just fine, if not I'll try to do a even better explanation or how to say.

EDIT: It shouldn't matter as it's just the lip-sync data (Atleast the slightly smaller archive I just finished.) but it's based on the 1.01 update. (Files are already properly named.)

EDIT: If everything works correctly the voice parameter in the character creation menu should play a sample when it's altered.

\Divinity2\Data\Sound\Soundbanks\Win32\English\ - This is the location of the .bnk files, previously they were in the \German\ folder.

\Divinity2\Data\Win32\Characters\Dialogs - This is were the modified English.dialog files go.

EDIT: Better archive with only the needed files.

EDIT: Was notified that the unpacker utility had been updated, can now handle the texture file (That 1.5 GB one.) Smile

Can you add more details about the problem?

For example is it due to the protection system or a game error?

If it's the copy protection then the current SecuROM 7.4x version isn't properly emulated via Daemon Tools or Alcohol so carefully burning the image is one of the only real ways to bypass the protection as methods like YASU/ACID and DTE haven't been updated yet (Seems it's being worked on however.)

What you do is that in the program (Daemon Tools or Alcohol.) you enable RMPS emulation from their settings menu (Bit uncertain about how it's done for Alcohol and DT Lite.) and then insert the disc that you burnt (MDS/MDF format, must be burned with Alcohol for the RMPS information to be usable and this is critical for passing the copy protection as it won't recognize the disc otherwise.)

Not much else I can help with at the moment unfortunately, it'll be easier if the game was cracked or if YASU (Or DTE) were updated.

Code:
Mount image in daemon tools

Install Virtual CD v9.3 with advanced settings

Check "Permit indirect mounting of virtual CDs in the physical drive" in the device settings

Create a virtual image off the daemon tools drive with automatic copy settings

Mount the image into your physical drive in virtual CD

Unmount daemon tools, disable drives, exit daemon tools

Run the game

Yeah a mini-image or crack (Hopefully for 1.01 to minimize bugs.) would help, as would a updated YASU to properly hide the virtual CD/DVD unit (Alcohol, though it's called ACID there, or DT Pro/DT Lite.)

Will probably come soon enough as the author of YASU seems to be working on it again after having been absent for some time. (Unsure about specific details.)

Ofcourse clones are always a bit of a juggle compared to copying over a fixed EXE and playing. Smile
(Can't imagine that SecuROM itself would be too difficult for any of the major groups to handle, it's also just a normal disc-check.)

EDIT: What "Fakir" wrote should work as well.

EDIT: Oh and a blank 1-sec black screen WMV would be nice as well as a proper "nointro" (You can rename that file but it's better to do it correctly, same with some other videos, can't rename the ship video when entering and leaving "tutorial island" for example or the game will bug.)

EDIT: Seems some people have had problems with this "translation" in place of a "German" to "English" folder rename I also have a third one called "English(US)" but that folder shouldn't be used by the game, worth a try though.
