Think they are planning for a summer release, and knowing paradox it will need a patch or two and possibly an expansion to become playable =)
But usually in the end it becomes really good, just like hearts of iron 2.

wow it's almost here!
It kinda feels like my last post here was only a month ago or something..
can't wait to get my hands on this game! I've been itching for some insanely complex strategy lately.

"Ok so from the heading already you have an inkling of the news here. Today we are announcing that Hearts of Iron 3 has officially gone gold (technically a while back) and with it the final confirmation of release dates.
Unfortunately we've encountered some production issues (print) which means that the European ENGLISH release version is going to be delayed. This will mainly affect Scandinavia as our UK distributor had already communicated an Aug 14 release date. So the boxed release will be set for Aug 14 in UK and Scandinavia and we've got a confirm of Aug 28 for localized version in FR/GE.
I'm sure the news are disappointing and I'm sure you trust that we've done everything in our powers to avoid the delay. With that said Johan should not receive any criticisms for this as his team have had nothing to do with these production delays. Just wanted to make that clear.
The good news is that the digital version will still be released as planned on Aug 7, meaning that all of you who cannot wait for the game can still acquire it that way. "

I just pre-ordered it at play.com. I know that you get 2 free sprite-packs if you pre-order at gamersgate, but play.com is quite a bit cheaper, so I can always get those packs later and I will still have saved a bit of cash.
