There's a lot of different items and item levels from what I've noticed, first there's stuff like the color defining the overall quality (Common white to unique red or gold I believe) but a weapon can also have attributes like balanced or magic or well-crafted to name three examples which influences the damage it does, there's also different quality levels of these such as light and heavy with better items looking a bit more imposing. Smile

Haven't tried the repack method just yet, finished packing all files just now but I'll see what it does.

I noticed (Another user also mentioned similar results on the previous page as well.) that the best results were to place the folders you want packed in a separate folder along with the unpacker and then create a new folder and move the folders there while keeping the unpacker then from a commandline parameter go to the folder with the unpacker and type (This is just a example) "C:\dv2_pak.exe -a Z\" and it'll add all the folders in the \z\ directory (Sounds an Win32 in this case.) in a new .DV2 file (About 670MB) so then you rename Dialog.dv2 (Dialog_.dv2 for example) and move the packed file - out.dv2 - to the others and rename it to dialog.dv2 Smile

EDIT: The command "C:\dv2_pak.exe -a Z\ Dialogs.dv2" also works.

EDIT: Altered the command a bit, works now.

Still can't get this to work:( I have placed the dv2_pak.exe file in E:\Empty and the Win32 and Sound folders in E:\Empty\Empty2. I type the following in the command prompt:

E:\Empty\dv2_pak.exe -a E:\Empty\Empty2\ Dialogs.dv2

The resulting archive contains the "Empty" folder which in turn contains the "Empty2" folder and in the Empty2 there are Win32 and Sound folders. The game crashes again with this Dialogs.dv2 Sad

Best results come when the two folders are extracted. So I think I can manage without the lip syncs. Very Happy

How's the loot overall, anyway? Since if you say mobs hardly drop them, so is most of it from vendors/chests/quest rewards?

like JB mentioned there are severel different kinds of items: common, magical, rare, heroic, unique.
You guessed correctly the most stuff you get are from chests and quest rewards and even vendors have quite a bit of useful stuff. The vender items are not static so it's worth a visit every now and then.

well I would say it really depends on you.
There are certainly points in the game where the main quest tells you "You need X,Y,Z" but doesn't really tell you where to go exactly.
So I was just flying arround as a dragon and looked for new stuff to explore. Found a couple of new sidequests and after a bit more exploring I found the party where I have to go to continue the main quest.

I heard they fixed some map issues with the patch but I can't test it since I have th DL version of the game Sad
Another thing I really liked are the riddles in the game. They aren't that hard but it's a nice change of pace after all the killing.

The following command more or less solved it, I should have read the previous posts a bit better, hehe.

For simplicty just place dv2_pak.exe in C:\ and create a new folder, let's call it "Empty" to follow the example of the person who posted the tutorial on how to pack it.

In this folder place the unpacked Sound and Win32 data after naming it properly and then from the commadn prompt enter the following command while being in C:\

dv2_pak.exe -a Empty\ Dialogs.dv2

Wondering that too...I can't pack the two folders only. It always adds the folder they are both in and since the utility can't pack 2 separate folders,it really is a pickle(for us anyway) Very Happy

Well, I'll use the first part of the post from xentax forum, some text of my own and a little part of JB's post.

1) Unpack Dialogs.dv2 with the unpacker by dragging the .dv2 file on dv2_u.exe

2) Add a copy for each ...German.dialog file with English(US) instead of German in Win32\Characters\Dialogs\ folder, so the Dialogs folder contents will be:
A_AD_Deodatus.dialog
A_AD_DeodatusEnglish(US).dialog
A_AD_DeodatusGerman.dialog
and so on.
2.1) Renaming will be easier with this program.
2.2) You can also skip the part where you need to manually create copies by downloading this archive(200mb), extracting it, placing the extracted files in Dialogs folder and then replacing "English" in the filenames with "English(US)" using the utility above.

3) Make a copy of Sound\Soundbanks\Win32\German\ folder and change its name to English(US), thus having two different folders with the same contents.

4) Place the packer(dv2_pak.exe) in the root folder of any local partition. For example, E:\

5) Create a folder of any name on this partition(for example, E:\Empty) and place the Win32 and Sound folders in this newly created folder.

6) Run the Command Prompt and type:
E:

7) After that, without closing the commant prompt, type:
dv2_pak.exe -a Empty\ Dialogs.dv2

8] Go to game_folder\data\win32\packed, rename the original Dialogs.dv2 and place here the new Dialogs.dv2 you created.

9) In the registry (Start - Run - Regedit) go to this location. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Larian Studios\Divinity2]
(The WoW6432Node is only for 64-bit OS's, ignore it if you don't have such a OS.)

Change the language tag to "English(US)"

1. Get the unpacker http://www.sendspace.com/file/cu6bqm
2. Copy the unpacker to the gamedir\data\win32\packed and drag Dialogs.dv2 to it.
3. After it has unpacked "Sounds" and "Win32" folders,go to sounds\soundbanks\Win32 and rename German to English(US).
4. Get this http://www.123renamer.com/download.htm so that you don't have to rename everything by hand. Start the program and go to Win32\Characters\Dialogs and just replace everything that has German to English(US).
5. Then use the packer http://www.sendspace.com/file/x8uyez
6. Take the newly modified "Sounds" and "Win32" that you unpacked to C:\ (I did it this way) and create a new folder for them...for example c:\new and add them to that folder.
7. Then copy the packer to c:\ and start the command prompt(cmd) and add the line like this "dv2_pak.exe -a New\ Dialogs.dv2"
8. After that's done,copy the new Dialogs.Dv2 to gamedir\data\win32\packed replacing the original.
9. Start regedit and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\[KEYHERE](for me it was Wow6432NODE)\Larian Studios\Divinity2 and change "Language" to English(US)
10. Done. Very Happy

Hope I got everything correct. Smile

Edit. Sauronich got me to it...well it took a while to write. Sad

Ashmolly, just hit 'M' buddy, it brings up all the quest locations and you can even stick in your own custom waypoint, zoom in and out as required to get a look at the bigger picture....

finally another RPG where you actually have to read quest texts/listen to NPCs and figure things out on your own, I love it.

I'm very happy that they didn't go the oblivion route on this.

Thought the game got too easy till the point where i had that cutscene in which i am flying around as a dragon.
I just avoid the tower area for now and try to level up a bit first.
And great game! But my performance really sucks, and my pc isn't so bad Surprised
