Hardly worth bothering about, as its so cheap to buy now. Steam has it on 50% off this weekend, but even that doesn't beat the pittance that Play.com are wanting for it - only £9.99 delivered!!

How would a proper patch for a Steam only game work? Steam automatically downlaods any updated files after it downloads a .ncf file update and compares with the downloaded data so all that can be done is to pack the updated files and perhaps crack the Steam dependency instead of emulating it. Confused

There is no real way to make a "proper" patch like those from Retail games, with GUI options and the like.

As you said, Steam update its games by replacing the files that got modified in the new version. So the only way to update a pirated Steam game is to pack the new files and overwrite them manually. There is an application called CFToolbox that does that for you, but then again i wouldn't call it a "proper" patch.

Then again, you could alway use Install Shield or some other installer creator to make an actual .exe packed patch, but i don't think it's worth the hassle.

it is not a "proper" patch so what is it? i call this homemade patch and really here someone still think that everything is working after applying ripped files and to get all updated features inside? i do not think so. pirated steam games are only rips with client totally removed. loader and other stuffs are tools but not real cracks for steam anyway it should be changed usually almost like Valve go to update their client

Yep, it has every updated file as downloaded by Steam.

Lovely, thank you very much!

I've re-uploaded metatron83's patch to RapidShare, but you should pick this game up anyway, you can grab a cheap CD key for around £10/$15 tbh.

Yeah, it is quite difficult, but I think if you play it in coop it will be easier than if you play alone. But it should still be a challenge. Smile

I did update my dow2 with latest patch (downloaded from the links above). Standart game seems to be working (at least first 2 missions), but if I want to launch mod, error message appears "error code 5:00001" or smth. I did change rev.ini file with -dev extention, but still error appears. I tried 2 mods, Apothecary and campaign mod.
is there any trick to do?
Thanks in advance

"The Last Stand" Free DLC

http://www.gametrailers.com/video/the-last-dawn-of-war/55070?type=flv

Quote:
Enter the free new downloadable Dawn of War II game mode, The Last Stand. It's completely cooperative, with your opponents controlled by an A.I. who wants one thing: you, dead. Your team consists of three player-controlled heroes -- players can choose from the Space Marine, the Ork, and the Eldar -- whose sole task is to fight against wave after wave of increasingly difficult enemy forces. With little downtime between waves, players have to do their damnedest to keep their multiplier up, so as to ensure a high score and earn experience to level their characters. And to get a higher multiplier players have to control various map points, defeat sequential waves with no casualties, or kill all the enemies in a wave within a preset amount of time....

The Last Stand kind of thing seems to getting more popular every day. Wave after wave of mobs are coming and see how long can you survive. Mostly FPS use that but its something new to see it in a RTS.

A Hawt fix was just released. Oddly, it's version 1.6.0 :S
Why such a jump for a hot fix? no idea... previous version was 1.5.0 (There is only war)
The fix is a crash caused by GFWL 3.0 after playing a multiplayer match.

Get it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?nmxvnykgqzv Smile

Use the same loader as with 1.5.0 and all that.

And if I have the old version already signed in, would it work with the new G4WL?

GFWL 3.0 is an optional download. You can use your current version if you want.
New games will require it, but not DoW2.
This is a fix for a crash related to GFLW 3.0, so if you don't want to instal itl, then don't.

But i recommend you to do it since it's automatically installed to every legit users through Steam, so maybe they may see that you have an old version and kick you from servers or some shit.

Keep GFWL 2.0 if you want. Nobody is making you update for now Wink

EDIT: OMG, there is an emoticon making fun of Boundle? Hahaha! Pure win!!

So the update is only for G4WL 3.0? And also, if it is included in the updates for Steam, they will require it for online play...

No, the update fixes an error that happens only if you have GFWL 3.0, and it does not include GFWL.

The update is downloaded automatically by Steam, so i recommend you to install it to have the game update just like every legit user.

Installing GFWL 3.0 is completely up to you, and you can download it from Microsoft site
