Use this to add an XP entry in your boot list. In the "Add an Entry" section, change the Drive in the dropdown menu from C:\ to D:\ (your XP drive). Change Type to "Windows NT/2k/XP/2k3", and the Name to "Microsoft Windows XP". Then click "Add Entry" and "Save".

You messed up your boot loader, you could try fixmbr or fixboot...
I think that when making a dual-boot you always have to go: never OS first then older, the new can recognize old one, but the old one can't recognize the new one and there's the problem...

ya what i did wrong was install win 7 on c: and have win xp on d: already it should be the other way around, though for Vista it worked because i also used VistaBootLoader but with Win7 doesnt work that way i tried fixboot and fixmbr and also chkdsk /r to repair win xp but still didnt work, keeps saying NTLDR is missing

backup and make clean install would be one of the two best answers The other one is: ditch XP and go for the Win7
Try searching through forum, I think VGA gave me the advice which fixed my problems with dual boot, or Mortibus, I don't recall :\

Let me suggest something I thing would work. Set the D:\ disk/partition as active and repair the XP install. That should not replace the boot manager of the C:\ drive, while installing a new one in D:\. Now use the method I posted above.

When you say put it as active what do you mean?
i Also tried this..
Windows XP users
Insert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer.
When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key.
Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows.
Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and pressing enter.
You will then be prompted for your administrator password, enter that password.
Copy the below two files to the root directory of the primary hard disk. In the below example we are copying these files from the CD-ROM drive letter, which in this case is "e." This letter may be different on your computer.
copy e:\i386\ntldr c:\
copy e:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\
Once both of these files have been successfully copied, remove the CD from the computer and reboot.
But this didnt work, when i wrote down "copy e:\i386\ntldr c:\" it said i coudnt copy i really didnt know why...
