Wasn't sure where to post this, but oh well.

Currently, I'm using GrabIt, but it seems pretty much beyond shitty. It crashes 9/10 times of me opening and .nzb file in it, and it will randomly lose connection to the server. Then I'll have to restart it multiple times, as it crashes 9/10 times on startup too.

I need a better newsreader. Anyone got one to recommend? I'd prefer it if it's free (or, you know, "free"). Oh, and it needs to handle .nzb files too.

Yes AltBinz is the best one. I have tried them all and nothing comes even close.

Just downloaded and setup Alt.Binz, will try it out later.

I had it on 4 PCs in my house. It crashed on a regular basis on each one.

I've had in on 3 different PCs of my own (xp, vista x86 and x64), recommended to friends, nobody, not one has ever complained about it crashing.

so :/ the only reason I actually use it is because it is free and doesn't require me downloading a "free" program.

That's because you and your friends simply don't know any better

I might try out alt.binz, since newzleecher has for some reason started going to shit performance-wise for me (unexplained sudden drops in speed for 2-5 seconds).

Are you using the latest 4.0 betas? They are much better than the 3.9.5 release. Smile

Even older. I think I shut off the new version notificatons and forgot about it Razz
I'll see if an update does the trick.

Alt.Binz 0.25.0 is the last release available to public. It's freeware. You can use it for free as long as you like.

Seems like this software is donationware, as I see the latest version is now 0.31.1, but all versions above 0.25.0 is only available to paying customers. Disappointing, as I seem to remember reading it was freeware a while back?

I'm not sure if there is a cracked version of the latest beta, but if you are a legit user (or using Giganews license like I do), there is no reason not to get it. Wink

You can find 0.28.5 in the "usual places".

+1 for Newsbin Pro - it has the distinction of being the ONLY app I've ever bought, out of respect for the author who is always updating it!

Does it have all the NZB indexing sites integrated, such as newzleech, binsearch, nzbindex and others? Does it have RAM caching? Does it have RSS? Does it auto par2 repair and unrar? Does it support multiple servers (secondary servers)?

If it's missing a single feature I mentioned it's not the best.

Umm. It has what is needed. It sounds like you might have issues with all these features.
