Well from the videos the devs keep mentioning how much they like changing stuff, tuning everything and scraping stuff they feel doesent cut it for a diablo game.
Though it seems the devs have borrowed alot from WoW, but the general feel I got was this game is a labour of love for blizzard and theres no way they're gonna release anything that doesent meet their standards. and with all the cash they're getting from WoW they have the luxury of developing to a point where the game feels truly finished.
About the gfx imo so long as it doesent feel blocky or hurt your eyes the gfx wont matter much, also considering gfx hasnt evolved that much during the latter years of this decade Id say the gfx will still look sexy.
I really love the comat, what they said about the monk having combos, how the players able to combine and create custom combos etc wonder what this means for the rest of the classes, will the barb have something similiar or gameplay we havent seen before.
Cant wait for this game, will be cool.

I wouldnt speculate on anygame today thats due out or not so near... Releases to date have made me not jump on the "hey this is gonna be cool" bandwagon...
You cant trust many devs anymore to get away with producing good games.. As the newer generation of coders etc appear, (dont forget now, these are the asshole kids that annoy on a daily basis with deepening issues of "cant be fucking bothered" mostly of late. Who are or could be coding your new games lol..
You only have to look at the so called "beta testing" lark along with open and closed tests that are supposed to assist devs but rarely do if one is honest.. QA? practically non existent id say in game creation these days..
Blizzard regarded good? yes they are, but at same time one shouldnt expect those that can to keep pumping out games that do... Ill hold judgement till im playing it..

I think they're banking on everyone thinking that it's coming in 2011 and then they pull a rabbit out of their ass and give us D3 for the holidays THIS year. Blizzard is notorious for not actually giving out any release dates and only hinting at things... I think it's misdirection on their part. |
If thats the case then why are there still jobs posted for Diablo 3 on Blizzards site?...
We are not talking minor positions here either....
2011 seems realistic to me, otherwise they would not be asking for
A 3d Level Designer.
A Level Designer (Scripter)
A Senior 3D character Artist
A Senior Game Designer
And a Senior 3D environment Artist
Those are pretty high positions and not one of them says to me that the game is getting close to being wrapped up. For example, I see there is no testers in there and they are mainly design and core game positions. IMO this game wont be out till 2011 or late 2010 the EARLIEST.

Don't understand why Blizzard gets a free pass to spend 8 years developing a game that could otherwise be released at the same level of quality in half the time. They take their sweet ass time that's for sure, whether or not it's for "quality" reasons or because they are just indecisive and constantly going through design changes is a big question.
I don't think the "creation" of the game is what makes these bastards invest so much time. It's that they don't like the color of the grass 3 months prior to release and decide to change it, etc.
The game should be finished within 3 years tops. Not sure how far in development they were when it was announced but I still think it's absolutely ridiculous to announce a game 3-4 years before release.

Ummm its THIER IP.... they can do what THEY want with it, not what YOU THINK they need to do with it... Its been in development since 2005... not 8 years... A quick search on the net will find all the info..
At least they aren't 3D Realms and change engines several times and then lay off an entire development team when things look like its finally getting finished.
I'd rather they take as long as they want (Just like ID Software) and release it how they want it to be released.

@KrAzY-KaMeL : they didnt develop it for 8 years. They scrapped the first D3 in 2005. That means they restarted developing later 2005/early 2006.
And yeah, Blizzard takes its time to develop good games. but mind you, contrary to believes, it is NOT to make guys like you cry.
Then again you probably also cry when game is buggy as shit at release ...

i would rather wait 5 year to play a game for nearly 10 years (hell, starcraft is still lots of fun to play online, so was diablo 2 few years ago), than wait one year to play a game for 5 hours.

Yeah, but some (incl. me) would rather wait one year to play the game for few hours and try it out and eventually, if game is 'good but has glitches and bugs', wait 5 years for devs to polish the game up.

Releasing a game that is 'good but has glitches and bugs' stains a developers reputation.
Blizzard has a perfect reputation in that regard and they're not going to change anything, seeing how their formula is so successful. It's what defines blizzard.
And I wouldn't have it any other way either.

Ditto, i'd rather have a game that is developed for 5+ year's and have that in equivalency of playability time, than waste my time on 3 year's of under-developed/half-assed garbage.

Update: Ripten is reporting that Mike Morhaime has told DirecTV that, while he won’t give a specific date, Diablo III will be released this year.Okay, now that sounds a lot better than 2011. Shockingly better. Unexpectedly better. Dreamland better. Still, we will have Nathan poke around for more to be sure. It sounds too good to be true, honestly.

Correct me if im wrong but dont blizzard have a habbit of almost completing something before they really announce any real stages of it?
Im sure this is similar to content for wow in which they always pull it fast or it seems fast out the hat, and for most part ends up being pretty well made with minor issues? Maybe they been harder at it than lead to believe..
Or this could be the random act of fail that every company must have eventually

i highly doubt a 2009 release is possible or plausible. Unless the stuff they showed was from 2 years ago (no implentation of the rune system, many skills not done etc). Just no way ...

There is no way in hell Diablo 3 is coming in 2009 and anyone who actually believes that must be mad and should go and put himself into a mental insititution as soon as possible.
Blizzard does not announce games when they are almost done. They announce games when they have something to show that looks as if the game is almost done, then it still takes 1-2 years for it to actually be finished.
VG247 should be purged from the interwebz for reporting such bullshit.
