Well yeah i need to have my fix of stealth while waiting for Splinter Cell Conviction. Looking mostly for FPS with silencers and stealth approach but 3rd would do as well if good.

Note that i already completed all Splinter Cell , Crysis , Hitman. Someone recommended me Death To Spies and i did try it but couldn't get into it since i'm absolutely sick of WW II and Cold War settings. Tried Far Cry 2 too but the stealth system is junk.

I know Arkham Asylum is supposed to have some stealth elements and the game is already on my radar.

Recommend away Cool

Velvet Assassin : Been there done that. It's OK but nothing groundbreaking and again i was tired of the WW II stuff. Then again i have high standard when it come to stealth games. Yes i'm a picky little bitch.

NOLF 1 & 2 : Been there done that a long time ago

Thief 2 : Been there done that a long time ago.

Sorry guys Razz

Btw does STALKER have any stealth elements ? I tried it when i had my Athlon 64 and 6800GT but it ran like shit so i didn't go very far (maybe like 2 missions in) so i didn't had the time to see if there was stealth elements. I now have a much better PC so i may try it again if that's the case.

Played and completed both

Oblivion stealth was a blast with a mod that improved stealth that i can't remember the name at the moment. Had a lot of fun being an assassin with that mod (it was a bit of an extension to the Assassin Guild quests except much better and it also greatly improved the mechanics of stealth.)

As for F3 , stealth was quite boring in that game. Crouch , VATS , head shot with shotgun and then rince and repeat. It had a lot of potential though.

Uh.. sure, watch a trailer or two about that one, actually just listen to the interviews they changed their philosophy somewhat.

From the games you mentioned, SC and Hitman, only Thief comes to mind the ultimate stealth game.

Never played MGS I believe that is stealth as well.

yeah, try it again. it's no thief, but it's got stealth elements plus you're very fragile. meaning there's stuff like attacking an enemy compound where if you go in the front door you get killed pretty much instantly, so you have to survey the area, plan an entrance and sneak around to take on isolated enemies or smaller groups separately.

and it's also one of the coolest games ever Surprised

What do you mean they changed their philosophy about Splinter Cell ? Don;t tell me they are going in a all gun blazin Ramboesque like direction ?

As for MGS , it's my favorite series of all time so i know all about it. The stealth in it ain't that great though , unless you think hiding under carcboard boxes and barrels is cool. It's "Arcade stealth" i would say.

And you're right about hitman. It's not pure stealth but there are still minor stealth elements in it that i enjoyed (being crafty , going silent or all out ect).

I am a huge fan of the series and i don't see where you see stealth in that game. It's 100 % survival horror , and one of the best series at it Cool

Yep, they did.

Quick summary:

- You have an automatic HEADSHOT mode (named Mark&Execute). You mark an enemy whenever you like, and when you press a button, Fisher shoots with 100% accuracy. However, to gain this ability, you have to do a melee kill.
- You can't carry bodies.
- You can't jump whenever you want, only in designated places.
- When you crouch, your enemies CAN'T hear you no matter what.
- There is a binary stealth system, you're either hidden or not.
- Fisher has developed abnormal abilities- he can shimmy on ledges with a speed of a ferrari and he can see in the dark (no need for goggles).
- You can't knock out an enemy, only kill them.

That's about it, though I'm sure I forgot a lot.

EDIT:

- If your IQ is lower than 20, Ubisoft has come up with a perfect solution- if you lose a line of sight with a guy, you leave a ghost (just in case you forgot where you were 5 seconds ago). Guys controlled by AI concentrate on that point, or if it's a ledge or a balcony, they come up to you so you can throw them off.
- AI is more stupid than ever and they don't see you running across them.

Nope, not at all. You have to look at it as a NOT Splinter Cell game, maybe you'll like it.

To be honest, there are still many ways to do the missions, and though developers claim that every mission can be done using stealth, it is

a) seen that shooting is strongly encouraged(by placing 1 guy before entering a room so you can earn M&E and in the room 2 guys so you can use headshot button)
b) yet to be proved that you actually can do a level using only stealth.

Also, it is highly probable that you have unlimited ammo in your pistol (seen in the video, and though it was suspected that they were using god mode for the presentation, pistol was the only weapon that had unlimited ammo).

The same guy that did Rainbow Six: Vegas is now behind newest Splinter Cell, so some of the features seem very a-like (like M&E that is almost exactly the same as marking enemies in the room in Rainbow Six)

TRy dark messiah of might and magic. Has FAB stealth if you dont mind changing your GUN to an amazing bow, and your PISTOL to some wicked daggers. Very Happy and your RYAN for some excellent fantasy setting.

Dont thank me, just go and enjoy a great game. Smile
