If you have crashes when using the physX fix, then make sure that you put the files correctly and that you are using the latest crack "fixes".
Also, i noticed now that myselft isn't actually using the file BmGDFBinary.dll (the one not in the binaries folder) and it's great. Try and remove that file, and se if it works better.
Well, another trigger (or is it a game stopping bug) missed. I can't enter a building via the grate I'm supposed to because the grappling hook won't work on it.
Spoiler:
The old mansion grate above the balcony, it's the only way in, I checked a walkthrough
Damnit to hell
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

Just played through this, must say that this is best game what i have played in years Gonna play it through again when retail comes out, wanna see some PhysX action :>
Lol Immunity you're an amazing triggers seeker...or maybe just a terribly unlucky player
edit: since the trigger you mentioned happens to other people too, well, it's the first option.

Can confirm have the exact same problem. Any word on a scene crack?

Well, then how, pray tell, do I get past that point? Anyone?

This is how you get inside the mansion. Just swing it!

Doesn't work.
I restarted the game, restarted from last checkpoint, zoned in and out of the mansion via the front door, ran back to the medical facility and then back to the mansion and the grappling trigger STILL isn't there.
I had the same problem when exiting the bat cave the first time after pulling down the grate, it magically started working. Here, no such luck
Is there a noclip mode or something to where I could get up there?

Is this the same as when you can see a hilighted grate high up on a wall and you need to grapple it to pull it down? I had one in the last room in the demo I couldnt do shit with either.

Yes, I pulled it down successfully with the claw, but now the grappling hook won't let me grapple up to the open vent. The little blue circle never appears.

Does anyone know where unpacking the archives stores the files? It's taking up way too much space.
It's stored on the same partition as from where you try to unpack the archives, afterwards it's deleting all of them and even the setup files if you want to. So remove something from that partition and you're ready to install.
I'd like to try the physics settings as well but i can't find game.engine.ini. Don't see them in my gamefolder nor in documents. Can someone tell me where it location is If i only change the other. ini file the game crashes after starting the game. My os is windows 7.

Change the setting in UserEngine.ini
in the game -> <dir game>\BmGame\Config\UserEngine.ini
in my documents -> C:\Users\<user name>\Documents\Eidos\Batman Arkham Asylum\BmGame\Config\UserEngine.ini
Changing the default configuration file isn't needed though if you alter it it'll probably affect the other one as the default settings are now altered.
About 5% in and just started exploring the area, there's quite a bit of stuff to find plus extras like challenges or just gaining experience to earn better abilities, found some sort of easter egg or something as well in one area.
Latest crack fix works quite well so far, haven't reached that area mentioned previously though with the grappling hook not working so it's possible there might still be some triggers left, atleast the retail release will be cracked easily if a working crack is already well developed by then or how to say it.
(You could just copy it over and it should work just fine, shouldn't affect anything regarding gameplay and it's not the reason why the PhysX effects are glitched in certain areas as the actual game seems to be a older version which is seen by the date of the demo files being more recent.)
Though if you don't need those extra effects this release seems fully playable and complete.
(I'll probably overwrite it with the retail release once available though, hehe.)
A similar pack of demo .dll files were posted previously, supposedly works just fine with PhysX as they're more recent and updated but I've only tested small areas due to me using a ATI card (Albeit with a AGEIA PPU though that configuration is unsupported.) so as it runs via the CPU performance isn't that great, fun effects though you can do without them in terms of gameplay.
(Breaking various objects is always fun though and the smoke, debris, sparks and cloth effects add to the immersion albeit it's rather subtle, overall it's a small but nice improvement to the overall feel of the game I'd say.)
EDIT: I've no idea what's up with the D2D version, might have been a earlier test version as PhysX can be enabled but might cause bugs and crashes, using some demo files works around this and those files are also more recent once again hinting at this version not being proper retail.
(We'll see a release around the 15th - 18th I suppose as that's when the game retails, existing crack method should work just fine as well so it would go pretty quick to make a release albeit it'll probably be nuked by proper scene rules and perhaps propered, either way as long as it's playable I don't really care how it's cracked, now it's just a few triggers preventing full playability and those will probably be fixed fairly soon.)

I'm reading that everything was already fixed

***UPDATE***
Final 100% working crackfix just released.“This fixes the save, glide, kick glide and makes the game run smoothly.” Get it from >.<
Uninstalled until retail - tired of having to run back to the bat cave every time a fucking vent glitches and I can't progress (seems to fix it but major pain in the ass).
If nothing else, it was good practice for when retail finally does get here
