On Xbox360 my favorite is definitely FIFA 10. I love FIFA 09, so for me FIFA 10 is a must-buy.

There was something very annoying about fifa09, like a yellow card for every other tackle, I don't think I'll ever get that joy like when playing pes6.

lots of new stuff this year too ...
Quote: | * Battle on the Boards: A new board play physics engine lets players shield the puck along the boards, kick-pass it to teammates, or pin an opponent.[2]
* Intimidation Tactics: Players will be able to fore-check defenders, pressure the puck, and finish checks to force your opposing skaters into making mistakes. Engaging the opposing team's star players will now instigate players and fans. Skaters who frequently harass star players will become antagonized by the opposing crowd and players.[2]
* Post-Whistle Action: Players will be able to finish checks, retaliate for late shots on goal, draw penalties, and pick fights after the referee blows the whistle.[2]
* New First Person Fighting Engine: Players controlling the team's enforcer will be able to engage instigators in a new first person fighting simulator.[2]
* Spectacular Goals: Introducing spectacular new ways to score, like players one-timing loose pucks, stick-handling and shooting from their knees, batting pucks out of the air, and lifting a leg to fake a shot on goal.
* New Precision Passing: A new 360° precision passing mechanic delivers control over the speed and direction of passes so players can bank passes off the boards or play the puck into space for teammates to skate on to it. Players take poor passes off their skates and kick the puck to their sticks.[2]
* Improved Goalie Intelligence: Goaltenders will be able to position themselves more intelligently, react to shots more quickly, and recover from saves faster. NHL 10 will feature 250 new goalie animations, including swatting pucks out of the air, second and third saves, and desperation lunges.[2]
* Interactive Atmosphere: Animations of fans within in the game have been rendered to appear more life-like and detailed. Playoff games will feature towel-waving fans and greater reactions from the crowds.[2] |
personally I'm looking forward to the post-whistle hitting ... pisses me off when their goalie freezes the puck and I can't smash the defenceman's face in

It'll be quite a bit (most likely) until we find NBA2K10 since it's an October release. None the less, it looks awesome (again) and between that and NHL, I'll be set for a while.

Fifa 09 gameplay was so boring that I dropped it very soon from my games list. Basically whole game was to make through pass and go 1 vs 1 on goalkeeper. In that respect PES 2009 was better gameplay wise (passing, tactics...), however graphics were such utter s**t that I could not play it as well

Code: | It's usually the same thing every year when a sports videogame is making the preview coverage rounds: better graphics, new player models, and so on. So when 2K gave me hands-on time with it's upcoming NHL 2K10, I was expecting to get just that. Instead, 2K wanted to show off some of the new social networking features that will be incorporated into the game. And for those who are wondering: yes, the hockey is there, it looks great, and it plays solid thanks in part to developer Visual Concepts being in charge for this game's full development cycle, rather than inheriting it from Kush Games during mid-development like last year's game. |
all previews I have read have stated that 2k10 will be though competition this year for 10

I've had the opportunity to play NHL 10 on a couple of occasions now. And it's good. But not much different from 09. The board play barely came into things, to be honest.. so the differences between the two games were almost nil.
The after the whistle stuff is interesting. But someone made the point earlier that they suspect it could get annoying online. I agree. I can see how it might! In fact, it started to get a bit tiring even after the few games I played. But what was most annoying was that the game would sometimes just sit and pass some time after a whistle... seemingly giving an opportunity for a player to start some rough stuff. This sometimes lead to awkward pauses in the overall presentation after a whistle if both players decided that they didn't want to risk taking a penalty with some rough stuff.
Anyhow.. looks like a solid game this year! I doubt NHL2K10 can really gain as much ground as they'd need to gain in order to overtake it.
But I do hope for more next year!!

Agree with everything you said there. At least, based on what I saw of the demo. The only really major differences are in speed and the accuracy of passing - but I suspect that is nothing more than very aggressive sliders which can be tweaked.

Oh yah! I forgot about the passing! The new passing makes a BIG difference. You have to be accurate now.. or else. I was surprised at how much I relied on the auto-aiming of the passing in previous years. When you make a good pass, this year, you feel as if it's an accomplishment!
