The console controls reflect the largest portion of people who will be gullible enough to blindly buy L4D2, L4D3, L4D4, etc.

L4D maybe. I'd like to see it tried on something like Call Of Duty 4.
Didn't the gamepad vs. mouse and keyboard thing get settled with Shadowrun or am I remembering incorrectly?

it will never be settled period and quite frankly people need to shut the hell up about it already and quit acting like anything PC is superior.
Doesnt matter what peripheral someone uses as long as they practice enough at it they'll master it. I've played him in ghost recon, L4D, call of duties, rainbow six, fact is he'll still take the top, he can't use mouse & keyboard worth a fuck but give him a gamepad and he'll let the havok loose
and im sorry but call of duty 4? are you fucking serious? that's prob one of the lamest "try it on this fps DURP!!!"
the call of duties are no harder than fuckin halo

Sorry.
I wasn't trying to insult your boy friend or anything.
I am sure he is very skillful.
I said something LIKE Call of Duty 4 btw.
Let him logon to a call of Duty 4 Multiplayer game server with his gamepad hooked to a PC and see how it goes. I wasnt talking about the difficulty of the game... but the skill of playes that play the game.
They had to gimp the PC controls in Shadowrun so the PC players wouldn't massacre the console players... but it happened anyway.
And really... he can beat you with a gamepad hooked to a PC on those games you just mentioned with you on the keyboard and mouse? Seriously?
And there are things about the PC that are superior. Fact.

Valve invited (and paid for flights and hotels needed to carry out this tour) the Steam user Walking_Target to Valve headquarters. They presented Left 4 Dead 2 in its current condition and after that had a bit of friendly chat.
What does the boycott group leader think about the game? Hereâs a quote: âThe high quality of the game is not in doubt and I am confident that it will be even better.â

Ewww.. horrible way to twist the facts.
Over the last week or so, we've been hinting at something big. A few days ago, a potential technical difficulty forced us to say that this announcement might be postponed â which we took even more heat for. Facta Non Verba is a Latin phrase meaning quite literally âDeeds, not Wordsâ, or âActions speak louder than wordsâ. This is ironic in more way than one. We've been hearing from a lot of folks because people just didn't see us getting an official response from Valve and that kinda makes people think we're not doing our jobs. Meanwhile, we've been giving Valve a hard time because of their lack of action in providing DLC and bug fixes.
This is difficult on our front as well as Valve's. We have been talking to them for the past few weeks trying to get some info on the upcoming DLC and what they might be doing for bug fixes. Meanwhile Valve can't release a whole lot of info on the subject either; because believe it or not, they don't want to promise anything that might not be able to happen.
Valve took the course of Facta Non Verba in dealing with myself and Agent of Chaos. Rather than trying to explain everything via email, they invited us out to their offices in Bellevue, Washington. That alone speaks of a developer that really does care about its fanbase. So, after making arrangements and booking the time off of our jobs, we flew down for a day to take a quick tour and talk with the guys at Valve.
We got a chance to take a look at L4D2 (including the version that was shown at PAX) as well as ask questions to the L4D/L4D2 team.
The good news: 4v4 matchmaking is supposed to drop before the release of Left 4 Dead 2. We have also been told by one of the fellows there that Crash Course is NOT supposed to be dropping this Thursday, but will be dropping 'soon'. We can't get into details, but we can definitely say that support for L4D is NOT being dropped by Valve and that they are actively pursuing bug fixes for Left 4 Dead. We're going to continue to talk to Valve and ask questions as needed, however if the frantic pace which we had seen people working at is any indication, we're not going to be left in the dust. The staff seemed to honestly love the original 4 Survivors and many said that âwe're not done with them yetâ.
As for L4D2, things seemed balanced and 'tight' and did not feel like a rushed job. While we were visiting their offices we personally witnessed what can only be called a small army of artists, coders, mappers hard at work, which explains the rapid transformations in artwork that we've all seen.
What we can say with confidence is that the quality of gameplay in Left 4 Dead 2 is not in question; and it will only get better (from what we understand, almost daily testing of game builds by most of the staff at Valve).

We're not giving up just yet though, we will both be here up until our individual concerns are addressed and sticking with you folks.
We'll be doing write ups about this tomorrow, Thrusday and Friday as well as answering questions. We will not be around that much tonight as we both have to fly back early tomorrow morning.
Thanks for your continued support!
-The Left 4 Dead 2 Boycott Staff

No, we didn't pay for flights or hotels, and we are fully aware of how that looks. however, anybody who has had to spend more than 2 hours in an airplane can tell you it's no treat. Nor is getting the shits from different water and food in another part of the country, that's always fun.
If Valve wanted to pay us off, it would have been more effective to send a cheque attached to an NDA agreement, not making us sit in airports and planes for 20+ hours in 2 days.

If you guys think Valve is your "enemy", then your debate loses all its credbility.. We are "fans" of Valve who were upset over their lack of support for L4D. They are aware of our requests, and working on updates.. That's what we always wanted and stood for. So until we see the updates, the boycott will carry on.
L4D2's quality (like every other game) is a matter of opinion. We liked what we've played, and that's just that. We simply refuse to purchase it until our requests are met, and THAT'S WHY we are still here.

Oh awesome! So now we're NOT getting the pissy little DLC this week? "Soon" Fuck off with that bullshit, you unscrupulous cunts.

Yeah, so instead of being this week (already a YEAR after release) it's now been upgraded to "Once L4D2 is out and we're not making money on L4D1 any more"

Of course it's not rushed, you useless fucking STAIN ... Valve ditched L4D1 like a bad smell the instant it hit retail outlets and SteamStore. They began work on L4D2 immediately after the release of L4D1 - so yeah, not shit Sherlock that it doesn't "feel rushed"

I bet the DLC will be delayed for max 1 week.
Given Valve's history (delaying almost everything until it's up to the quality level they want) I doubt it's intentional.
OR.. MS hasn't certified the DLC for release just yet.

Thirty silvers equals two months of WoW. Some of us have clocked wayyy more than two months in L4D. Outrage solved.
Well realistically Thirty Clams equals one month of vanilla wow. you need another 60 for both exp packs and then time served on top of that, so l4d is actually quite good value for money.
On top of that I'm way likely to spend over a hundred or two silvers when i go out on the weekend so really, $30 for 5 months of good times with my friends? Fucking worth it. Let's not cry so viciously over spilt milk.
actually fuck it, why do i care? you can't trust companies to do everything correctly no more than you can trust a driver on the road to not collide with other cars. Did you know your 5th highest chance of dieing is driving on the roads in everyday life? And you risk your life blindly every day without a thought in the world cause you have to get work, yet here you are BITCHING ABOUT NOTHING, YOU SAD MAN.

More info.. Among other things:
Now for some good news: There is more DLC for Left 4 Dead coming after CrashCourse. We were given a rough idea of what it should be, however we were asked not to talk too much about it so it didnât âinfluence the creative processâ. I can tell you this: itâll either be a new Special Infected, a new Campaign or new Weapon(s). Itâs definitely one of the three, perhaps more. This is pretty much the only thing that we were asked not to talk about (remember, *asked* we didnât sign anything). To that end, weâll continue to bug Chet about this after Crash Course drops.
