God I just don't get physx, you have it in Rail Simulator and other games where it sits and does absolutely NOTHING except more smoke, ash and toilet paper flying around but when a game comes that offers destructible environments it crawls into some old woman's uterus and hides
Or is it because of Havok and there can't be room for two, why do we need physx then anyway when in physx supported games you can't destroy shit but in Havok games like this one you can destroy anything with just the cpu doing all the work.

Yes you can, but after you activate it on this game you won't be able to activate new GFWL games with it (for example Batman Arkham Asylum, you won't be able to activate it with same key that you used to activate Red Faction). But, seems that you can still activate older games with it.

Looks pretty good here, i'm running it on a 3.0 core 2 duo and HD4870. The mouse movement seems delayed though only by a fraction of a second but it's enough to be annoying.

as i said, older games dont have the window with" memorize key" like new ones have, so you can activate as many as you want
of course there's thing with limited activations, but i activated with 1 key like 40 times and still working

Universe at War is an older game, it's not Games For Windows Live 3 game, the new games tie the key to "them".

Gotcha. In short, all games from now on require a single key.

I'll try using my GTA4 key and seeing if it works as well. Never play that game anymore. Was fun at first, but it didn't hold up like the prior ones. Also pisses me off that they haven't given the DLC's to PC users yet.

No, you can use an offline profile to save the progress.

The game looks quite well and the destructible environment is very fun. The only problem right now is that the physics calculations are a huge burden on my system. At times it goes from 60 fps to 20 when one of those huge buildings tops over and falls breaking. Is there a way to lower the physics quality? I couldn't find anything in the menu.

Awesome been looking forward to this one, and released early too - any more info on performance? is this better optimised then SR2 was?

Can your mobo overclock your CPU? I'm using the same gfx card as you but i have a E6420 @ 2.13ghz. Overclocked it to 3.0ghz using the stock cooler.

Be careful because if it's a legit GTA 4 key (from game box) it has limited activations.
|
Activated about ~5-6 games (1 legit gta4), but not "new" games (like s8 or rfg)

Yeah, you still need to apply the crack even with a valid key.

Exactly my thoughts. I always felt that Havok actually showed pretty much how destructible things can be when incorporated in games, but PhysX somewhat seemed like a hyped gimmick.

I disagree. Havok has serious issues doing cloth, water, etc... The problem with PhysX is that it's taking it to the next level and not everyone has the needed hardware to run it.
