Something EA Games are known for....not being Region Free.
Some were such as Half-Life Orange Box maybe because Valve had a say in the region..?
I don't know for sure.
Enough people have the game. Since it's not due in stores until 9/15

They would be happy with a region free one, so that makes ntsc useless. Anyway - region locking is a shit that should be forbidden.

ok this game is totally OFF THE CHAINS!! I cant get over how bad ass this game turned out to be. The sound is PHENOMENAL ..i just cant express how good the sound is in this game.. if you got a quality home theater setup with good sound setup like i do..your in for a REAL treat..i understand why the dev's opted to turn music off by default..
The gameplay is rock solid..you gotta turn off alot of the assistant BS though..to me it totally ruins the feel this game is trying to reach..with it off..besides auto traction..i left it on..the game feels freaking awesome..
Also the trackside detail is NICE..the game feels ALIVE when racing thru tracks, HazyView Eight Track when using cockpit or hood view proves what im saying..the trackside detail is super cluttered making the race feel ALIVE and like the real deal..love'n it.
You guys that havent played it yet are in for a big surprise.. this game has lived up to its hype and to all the naysayers in here..your gonna eat crow once you play this game lol..no offense but as is stated before..this game will be a huge hit, hell it already is
Welp..back to N4S Shift..cya guys and i hope you all enjoy it like i am..its amazing game here.

Here..i might as well post my quick impressions i posted at my own message board for my members there...i edited out some info below as its pertaining to a specific rls for DL..so nevermind some of the edit marks below..

On my living room home theater surround sound setup this game truly is the pinnacle of "TRUE" Gaming Digital Surround Sound..i just cant explain it, its amazing...from the menu beats, to the car's engine whining out on high rpm's..its just fucking sick! You MUST play this on a surround sound setup..its just a HUGE part of why this game is a blast to play...it gets your heart pumping..amazing what sound can do in a videogame...i totally understand why the developers opted to keep the ingame music off by default..because its NOT needed at all.
Now to the actual gameplay..you gotta turn off all that assistant bullcrap..at first i didnt like how the game felt when going around corners....it felt way too touchy for my own liking but after i realized the game at default has a bunch of car assist auto on..i turned them off and now this game feels so awesome. It handles good but you will need to mess around with some assist settings..some will want them on some wont..i did decide to leave auto extra traction on though..it just feels better to me...the rest is off. Oh on a negative note..the game runs at 30fps..i didnt know what framerate this game was running in..IGN didnt state it but i got a "eagle eye" when it comes to visuals and framerates..i can easily tell its not 60fps..but to tell you the truth...it dont matter, the game runs silky smooth at 30fps, it almost feels like its running at 60fps because it never takes a dip at all..its just rock solid framerate.
You guys gotta try the Hazyview Eight track..small track but man, the track side detail and the overall atmosphere when racing around that track is incredible..you get a sense of it being ALIVE..crowds cheering you on, banners flowing in the wind..very crowded trackside detail... it reminded me the first time i played APEX on the original xbox...when i played that game i was floored at the detail of the tracksides,etc..but N4S shift has alot more open ended tracks but the game still shines with atmosphere imho. The graphics really sparkle though.. the colors are rich and vibrant which makes the game's graphics pop out more..it looks real nice and clean..you'll see, it reminds me of the old Need For Speed Games..good backgrounds, good textures, good color pallets,etc..its reminiscent of the old N4S games visually.
I also feel that using the cockpit view is CRUCIAL to this game..im a guy that likes behind the car view ..as in with Dirt2,etc..it just feels right but with SHIFT..its a MUST with using the cockpit view or the hood view..one or the other really makes this game shine ..
The career is something i need to dig into more but i dont have a problem with the career mode being more linear like the IGN reviewer had a problem with..i thought its just fine as it is.. besides its how most racing games do their career so we are all use to it anyways..i think SHIFT does enough new innovation with other things that really makes up for the more common aspects of racing games that SHIFT seems to borrow from...i feel SHIFT has introduced a TON of new innovated features that all future racing games will copy/follow suit and making these new innvations become the norm for all future racing games of this genre.
Im REALLY hyped to put more time into this game..im sorta tired as i hadnt slept all nite but im gonna find me something to wake me up so i can get back into this baby like NOW lol ...i really cant give any more input..most of what i have to say has already been said by the IGN review..i just wante dto share my own perspective on what i felt thus far from playing this game for 45 minutes so far...Forza 3 will probably beat this game by a tiny bit but then again..i just dont know guys..i think SHIFT has done alot of "new" things that make keep it at the top of the podium this year as the best racer of 2009.
