All right so after seeing some Infamous videos I'm getting more and more tempted into getting myself a PS3. I currently own a 360 and will only be getting a PS3 for the exclusives. I have a HTPC so the BluRay isn't an incentive for me to buy a PS3.

So, owners of the PS3, give me some reasons to get it.

So far, from what I know, these are the games that might win me over:
Infamous
Drakes Fortune
MGS4

And that's pretty much it. Can't think of any others. Resistance 2 or whatever it's called I think I can live without.

if you can afford one then why not, you get to play all this current gens games then.

Only reason I can see not to buy one is that your perfectly happy with the console you have already and not being able to play the odd few exclusives is not an issue, can't afford one or you or want to cut of your nose to spite your face because you are in some sort of deniel about owning a sony console. aka fanboititus

There are more PS3 exclusives that are interesting (at least for me), such as:
LittleBigPlanet
Uncharted
Ninja Gaiden Sigma
MotorStorm: Pacific Rift

I'm just like you, debating buying PS3 every day, but I already have so many consoles and a good PC that I have no time left. I think the best course of action is to wait another year or so and maybe PS3 gets hacked, if not at least a lot more exclusives will be out, and maybe even a price drop. Current gen consoles aren't going anywhere, they are here to stay for at least 4 or 5 more years.

Infamous
Demon Souls
MGS4
Uncharted 1 and 2
Ratchet and Clank (I thought the game would be stupid but its actually really fun)
Little Big Planet (if you are in to it, didn't grab my attention)
Ninja Gaiden Sigma
Cross Edge (nifty little rpg)
Disgea 3
Valkyria Chronicles
Killzone 2 (although I don't own it anymore, its still a great game, maybe even better with the new control patch)

I'll find more, but this is a list of stuff I own or I'll own soon...

It's a money issue really. If you can spare the money for the console and the game, get it. There are enough exclusives that 'justify' the purchase. Although I still think the Xbox has the better game collection, the PS3 has some nice ones coming up too.

true 360 has the bigger library of games, as yet theres not too many exclusives to really set the ps3 apart from the 360. Although you would hope as the ps3 ages it would have a similar back catalog as the ps2 has nowadays. Sony is in it's 2nd year of its 5 year plan atm, will be interesting to see what else will be coming out next apart from all the recently E3 hyped games.

The PS3 has a good catalog too, but the XBox360 just beats it (imo of course). In the PS2 era Sony didn't really have much competitiion since MS dropped the Xbox like a brick after a relatively short while. MS probably considered the Xbox a testcase. I don't know what's happening with the PS3, but most devs don't seem to like it. It'll get better when the devs get used to the hardware probably.

Holy thread necromancy, Batman!
Well, what difference does it make if I make a new thread or use this one, right?

So I'm thinking about buying a PS3 and to help me decide I'm making a list of PS3 exclusives that I'm interested in that could win me over completly.

inFAMOUS
Metal Gear Solid 4
Uncharted
Demon's Soul
Heavenly Sword
Valkyria Chronicles
Afrika
Aquanaut's Holiday
Little Big Planet

So those are the games that I'd probably get (in that order sooner or later)
Now, what I'd like from you is a) input on how those games are (well, except MGS4 because I know it's awesome) and b) have I missed some exclusives that are absolute must haves? (Mind you, please no sports or racing games, just not my kinda games)
btw. are there any above average RPGs exclusive to the PS3?

Demon's Soul is an above average RPG imho and it would be the first game I would buy.
(And it was)

Ah, I'm going to get blasted for this because everyone here is gonna' nerdrage about how this game is overhyped and is trash... BUT:

I really enjoyed Resistance 2 for the co-op section. You get like 8 players spread over 3 class types over a bunch of pretty decent maps.

It's like an FPS mixed with WoW sort of, it's like a raid, it's a lot of fun.

The best part about it imo is the way the classes are FORCED to work together. They really did that piece well.

I never did finish the SP campaign though, so I can't comment on that.

Also (more incoming nerdrage), I personally loved Killzone 2.

Okay here's my attempt at a list of some PS3 exclusives with (hopefully) helpful comments to go with them;

  • Metal Gear Solid 4 - If you're a Metal Gear fanboy you'll love it, otherwise stay clear. As a standalone game I think it's probably one of the weakest entries (ignoring the improvements to controls and so on), but for existing fans it serves brilliantly as closure. The fan service and nostalgia it evokes, particularly towards the end, is fantastic.
  • Uncharted: Drakes Fortune - Perfectly pitched adventure game which distils the excitement and bravado of Indiana Jones into a videogame format. A triumph of storytelling and pacing which if anything is highly underrated. Engrossing from start to finish.
  • LittleBigPlanet - Extremely charming and cute platformer. An innovative game which is as smile inducing as it is challenging and fun to play. Take it online and it opens up a world of crazy contraptions and amazing feats of user creativity - but know that you don't have to, the levels that come with the game are more than enough to satisfy.
  • Gran Turismo 5: Prologue - The standard bearer for console sim racers. Time consuming, and totally fap-worthy car /porn/ replays. However, not much fun unless you're into racecraft.
  • MLB 09: The Show - The single best sports game you will play on any system. I don't like or understand Baseball one bit, but this game is just something else. It's like your in, and/or watching a real game. It's really amazing.
  • Valkyria Chronicles - Stylistic graphics, a touching story, sweet characters and enjoyable strategic gameplay. A favourite of mine but it is cut-scene heavy.
  • Killzone 2 - Woefully generic, but graphically amazing shooter. This is also a great time to play it as there's no hype to get in the way of your enjoyment. They've also patched the controls into being more responsive so win, win.
  • Formula One Championship Edition - F1 fans will get a lot of mileage out of this. It has the requisite sim-like driving model, depth and a realistic and uncompromising career mode. The graphics are very good as well. Underrated.
  • Motorstorm 1 & 2 - Fairly generic arcade racing, but it's not bad. Supports splitscreen if I'm not mistaken.
  • Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction - It's no Mario 64, but a solid 3D platformer all the same. Can't say I'm a huge fan, because I'm not.
  • Socom: Confrontation - Counter-Strike for the console basically.
  • Singstar - It is what it is, and people love it for it. Even if you don't!
  • Buzz! - A really entertaining game for friends and family to gather round. Very slick.
  • Heavenly Sword - I didn't like it in fact I hated everything about it aside from the cut scene graphics.
  • Infamous - Not played it but it is rated above average.
  • Disgaea 3 - Love it. Huge timesink and a wonderful sense of humour. Looks shit, but it's far from it. If you're new to the series it's a great way to get into it.
  • White Knight Chronicles - Not played it yet, waiting for a EU/US release, but rated as a good jRPG elsewhere.
  • Demon Souls - ...or 'the best game ever' as TwoBells might say. Waiting for EU/US release.
  • Siren: Blood Curse - Survival horror. Only played the demo, was fairly impressed but not enough to part with money. Worth a rent I'd say.
  • Resistance 1 & 2 - I didn't like either of these but, as this thread even shows, there is an audience out there who do. Crazy though they may be.
  • Folklore - Another game I haven't played but is considered to be a good jRPG.
  • Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm - Gorgeous graphics and flowing animation (especially in the battles that look like anime), but wasn't a very compelling game to actually play... so I didn't!
  • Flower - Beautiful, truly artistic game. Don't miss it.
  • Flow - nice 1080p graphics and ambience but ultimately not much of a game.
  • PixelJunk Eden - Pumping soundtrack, eye popping sharp graphics, and addictive gameplay spread across a surprisingly varied selection of levels. I really like this.
  • PixelJunk Monsters - An extremely good tower defence game which supports two players.
  • Echochrome - truly mind-bending puzzles and a unique art design.
  • Noby, Noby Boy - Zany sandbox style game from the Katamari creator, not really a game actually but a play-thing with a great sense of humour.
  • WarHawk - Extremely solid if unremarkable multiplayer ground and air combat game.
  • SuperStarDust HD - Retro game with nice updated graphics and sound. Lots of fun, highly recommend.
  • Fat Princess - I've only played the demo but it looks and sounds great. I had serious connection problems though so try the demo first.
  • WipEout HD - A trip down memory lane, it's WipEout, only better looking. Surprisingly addictive singleplayer campaign and good multiplayer experience.
  • Ratchet & Clank: A Quest for Booty - Not bad, but not great. Cheap title for those who want a humourous 3D combat, platforming adventure game.

Lets say you were going to wait until God of War 3 hits in March 2010... you'd still have a sizeable amount of exclusives (mixed in with all the multi-platform titles) to play in the meantime - and don't forget that's ignoring all of the other games which will be released in the interim like Uncharted 2, Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time, Gran Turismo 5, the God of War Collection, Heavy Rain and more.... not to mention the games you'll have to look forward to such as the Last Guardian and Rockstars Agent. There's loads of exclusive games to enjoy now, in the coming months, and in the future.

I know I know but I'm somewhat of a Scrooge McDuck when it gets to spending money (especially for a console for which I have to buy the games legally Wink )
But then again it's 299 now, might get one around christmas or so

And I heard Demon's Soul is pretty hard? (and a new game + is supposed to get even harder)
