I had to change the language as well. It's default japanese in the setup.ini ( 411 ) change it into 409 - english.

It's the reloaded version a got from usenet in a.b.games.

And thanx for warning me in advance Very Happy

strange thing: ran dxsetup from the disc (looked like it installed a few .dlls) and after that continued my latest safe. the first 2-3 cutscenes (there sure are a lot of them) worked fine. So I already thought it had to do with DirectX but in the next cutscene after that it went back to black screen, sound playing fine. happens on my win7 x64 rig with a radeon 4890 (cat 9.9)

I already did it with SetPoint, but thanks anyway. As for my whole "tears" thing, I was being sarcastic Very Happy As I said to SpykeZ, if the only thing I can find to bitch about the game is that I can't map one of my extraneous mouse buttons? Well, then I'd say the game was doing pretty damned well Very Happy

Windows Vista drivers work on Windows 7, if you can't find dedicated Win7 ones.

I also downloaded the usenet reloaded version was upped by (antichrist) was englsih in installer for me, runs like a dream...

would make a good game for other devs to look at to see how shit is done withought lag/pauses/audio issues etc etc..

Sabin, yes but they are not great the logitec vista ones on win7 ... as said they been around ages as i used them when i was running vista myself the setpoint stuff..

plenty of people fussing about how they have issues in win7 with them,, i guess your mileage my vary though, give them a go...

If you dont like it you can always play other games, what i wonder is, didnt you played other resi games before this, cause inventory is same style, movement in resi 4 was the same, story you cant tell if its good by the 1st minutes, and lol at those realism aspects, there is money bags of gold lying around and if you didnt notice theres zombies also xD

Only one issue so far; if I close the Setpoint CP ... my mouse speeds up to hyperspeed at 1600DPI, and the resolution switching buttons don't work.

Woah, did you guys even give it a chance?

I'll admit I felt the same way about the FOV the first time I fired it up as well as the controls, but now I have spent a bit of time getting used to it I think the controls work well for the game as well as the FOV, it gives you a slight sense of being claustrophobic which has always been the norm for resi games. And the more I play this the more like it seems like familiar territory, and alot like the much acclaimed resi 4, only now you can aim better with the mouse. And lets be honest Resi games have never had great controls from the start. Just waiting for a few key puzzles to pop up now Very Happy

So much whining from such a great game, go guys play tetris or whatever if resident evil isnt your game.. I absolutely loved Resident Evil 1-4. now after about 2 hours of gameplay i can say that this game fucking rocks if you liked previous ones.

It probably has to do with how the regional settings are set on our machines, still even if it works for some people without messing with the setup.ini, the file is fucked up. It shouldn't default to japanese, no matter what.

sorry, but i want resident wvil like it was in 1-3, not this ... this is just my opinion. Not whining about the graphics or anything. Heck, i don't like TPS games , but that has nothing to do with my dislike of this one.

I want back to real Resident Evil. With limited ammo and lots and lots of puzzles.

Sabin, Logitech supports Windows 7, just need to check the forums as the versions are considered beta at the moment. Smile

Example keyboard driver.

Also for G9, G9x the Setpoint 5.20 drivers are designed to work with Windows 7.
(Although you still can't choose W7 in the dropdown menu during download when selecting your OS.)


EDIT: Wonder if that tweak from the benchmark (HDRLevel=high from =low) works in the full version, changes from 32-bit HDR to 64-bit, kinda like this.

I'm getting the error 'init cpr 80070002' failed when i try to start the game in dx10 mode. I remember i got the same error once when there was a problem installing the ati driver for my gpu i think.

Tried to resolve it but no luck yet Sad

Edit:

Allright i figured out it was my display that just doesn't support this game when i play it in directx 10 mode. Only when i play in a windowed screen and then strech it i can play it in dx10 tho not in full mode.

When i start the game in direct 9 mode i've no problem at all.

I also noticed the same thing with some other game like 'stalker clear sky' and 'hawk' in directx10 mode but not with all games.

Sometimes while playing in directx 10 mode i can start a game but my display restarts when there is a cut-scene f.e.

Does anybody has any idea what this is and how to resolve it ?

My display is an LG L204wt.

Changing the resolution doesn't help also. And i know it's my display because i have also an hdtv connected which doesn't have this problem.

The game freezes up on me once in a while anyone else having this problem?

Also I am really starting to hate the AI helper. I wish I could just let her die and go on with the game. I think this was a terrible feature for single player.

yup but it's so clunky and limited that it still plays better with a gamepad Very Happy

The game is not designed to be played like an FPS. You cannot move and aim at the same time, and you do not have analog aiming control.

This is not because Capcom are lazy porters or stupid game designers. It all ties into the tension that the game tries to build. Every bit of it is intentional. If you don't like it, fine, don't play it, but don't think that it is because it's a bad port.

wonder how it plays with mouse... it took a bit of getting used to on consoles even after having played RE4 from front to back.

anyways from reading the posts it seems like it's the exact same game... including the horrendous AI(tip... just equip a sniper rifle with her and later on the bow).

still i wanna complete it again for the (hopefully)prettier visuals alone.

Hm, any way to change the language in registry? Mine is Polish (even though everything I have on my PC is English, wtf) and I don't want to wait a million years and set the installer's language to 409 or whatever

Setting the installer language by unpacking the downloaded ISO, deleting it and then altering the setup INF file and running setup.exe might be the quickest method, just delete the other localizations to force it to use the language you selected as default.

Either that or it's choosen by regional settings that can be adjusted via the Windows control panel, bit of a hassle though but you can change it back after installation is finished.
