Oh well, you can never trust the producers. |
ive been reading about the "its not horrific" thing in the thread here, but from my old man point of view hehe, i cant even get off the first main attack in that shed... i get close but i end up fucking it all up.. i need to learn to support and heal without the intervention of the slut more..
But I found that attack with those 2 big black weird things rather horrific really.. scary enough for me, what maybe is missing if it is then is not the zombie like scary shit, but more the atmosphere they are put into..? |
Yeah, that first area is a bitch with the sheer amount of enemies and that big hooded guy with the axe combined with the fact that the controls feel unnatural at first, you just need to keep running back and forth avoiding them turning to pop a few off every so often using the barrels and other shit laying about to soften them up. There is also a sub machine gun in a case near the gate which is handy.
It's funny how the hardest part I have played so far is right at the beginning, as it get's much easier from then on in.

Mini-spoiler on a certain type of enemy you encounter later on.
(Used in the previous game as well.)
That chainsaw person later on was quite a problem, not really scary as you hear them and are ready for it but they're hard to kill and very dangerous if they manage to get to you.
(That big dude with the hammer was more difficult but also far slower, those dogs are problematic as well sometimes other than that it's mainly the sheer amount of enemies that add to the difficulty, some trailers show that other unlockable mode with even more enemies on the screen, might be quite difficult to survive that.)

I agree! It was exactly the same in RE4. The first battle with the dozens of Ganados and 2 Dr. Salvadors was among the most difficult parts in the whole game. I died at least 4 times there.

What do you mean by "other uses"? Key gives you complete game functionality (achievements saved in XBL online profile, coop play). You want key to cook your dinner too?

DX10 worked flawlessly for me, right up until Act 2 when you get to the waterfront by the metal boxes ... then it took a nosedive >_< Dropped from 75 locked to around 45-50 but juddery, feeling more like 20fps. Switching to DX9 cleared that completely.
Jesus, what the hell is wrong lately? :-\

Just want to know 1 thing before downloading this: how's mouse control? Sluggish, unresponsive or actually smooth and enjoyable?

Sluggish and weird. If you're moving the mouse BEFORE you start walking .. it locks for a second, then moves. It's hard to explain, but the game definitely performs better on a joypad.

Act 3-2 here, and dx10 works perfect. 8800GT, 1024x768, HDR 64, 8x CSAA + 4x SS TrAA, 16x AF
50-60 fps most of the time.

They are a bunch of modders/programmers that initially were making a coop fix for Red Alert 3, since then they have been making LAN mods for various games ie: DoW2, GTA IV etc ..

as I said some pages back, windows live has to be hacked in order for it to work.
MS has put in a "check" of sorts that if you don't have a certain latency speed under what they consider acceptable, you simple won't show up in any lan games, this was their way of combating "hamachi piracy"
though it can be fixed, it was done with gears of war and it worked great, the only downside is, any patches and the "crack" has to be redone
