Gamepad. Mouse look is shit in the game and also you could say it's altering experience, because original developers intended for you to aim using laser sight and not a cheap looking corsshair. |
I could have played it already on X360 but was hoping that PC controll wouldl be actually up to 2009 standards. |
and you hoped wrong, the aiming sucks monkey tails on mouse.
didn't they have an issue like this with lost planet?
maybe capcom just sucks with keyboard mouse

Actually, I kinda liked the mouse/keyb controls on Lost Planet ... except for one thing; I never did figure out the JUMP button when you're in the jet-bike VS machine :-\ It's on the 360 controller, but I pressed every damned key on the keyboard and nothing happened >_<

Ok, I just tried this game but... holy shit is it difficult!
I mean... am I missing something? I'm at the first "big battle", very beginning of the game, ant the bad guys just keep on coming forver, I run out of ammo even if I hit with almost every shot, and the big axe-swinging leather-faced motherfucker won't die evenn if I keep hitting him with every bullet I can find...
I was under the impression these console games were better played with a joypad, so that's what I'm doing, maybe it's easyer with mouse and keyboard?

You don't have to kill them all, you have to survive until help arrives. Just keep moving and going up and down buildings, blowing up barrels etc. And yes controls are awkward at first but you'll get used to them.
Tip: pull left stick back and press A, will turn you 180 degrees.

You can climb buildings? I didn't even notice I'll have to retry this evening more carefully... thx for the info
EDIT: oh... that's how to turn 180... I did it by accident a couple of times, and couldn't figure out how to do it again... the fact is, I really hate following the tutorials/reading the manual

So I've been reading through the forums and have done some other research and am trying to figure out what exactly is the deal on GFWL? I hear some people say they can activate using old keys, others cannot. Now from what I've been reading, GFWL 3.0 does not have limited activations. Apparently older games do, however. I have bought several GFWL games, including Gears of War, GTA IV, Dawn of War 2.. I think that's it though.
Now supposedly, DoW 2 does not have limited activations through GFWL. There was a big stink about this when it came out and supposedly the issue with DoW 2 was fixed. Now I've been reading about the new "features" of GFWL 3.0 and here are a few:
Quote: | *
Server Side Authentication links the game license to your Gamertag. The advantage of this method is that it allows installation of the game onto any PC, anywhere — only you can access the LIVE service from the game. Server Side Authentication has no affect on offline play.
* Zero Day Piracy Protection keeps games from launching before the street date the publisher has set for the game.
|
I used one of my keys on SF IV and it works fine online. Does RE 5 use some new GFWL 3.0 features, such as the server side, or zero day piracy protection? I've read that other users are able to use a GFWL key to go online with this game, but I thought the release date was the 15th?
So basically, does anyone know exactly what the deal is with GFWL? Can you still use other keys for RE 5 or will they not work? What's up with the "unlimited" activations that go with GFWL 5? I know I have one GFWL account that I use. I wonder if that account could be banned.. I don't play GoW any more, so that key could be used I guess. Still, the whole thing is a pain in the ass because I know I've had to reinstall Vista 64 like 3 times since buying it. I certainly don't want my GFWL account banned. I still like to play DoW 2 and GTA IV online if I so chose and I have played SF IV with a friend online a time or 2, although I don't really play the game much.
So now, with GFWL 3.0, once you use a key, does it lock that key to one single game or can you use the same key for multiple games? Is it best to make an offline profile then use Hamachi or something for RE 5?
Just trying to figure all this updated GFWL bullshit out.

It is a bit difficult.. conserve ammo, go melee as often as you can, use every grenade, every herb you can find, even finish off the fights with your knife.. 10 times more fun than the average shooter ^: p

While I agree, you do get used to the controls, they could be a lot better tbh. They are very clunky.

Definatly enjoying the game. Runs great in DX10 mode and SLI GTX260's using the 186.18 drivers and the latest NVIDIA SLI Patch. Using 360 controller the controls are what they should be. My only grip is that its a pain in the ass equiping an item and using it. I'm suprised they didn't make it easier to switch weapons at least. The camera is frustrating at first, but you get used to it and it fits the gameplay.
And yes, the first stage sucked. Not enough ammo and a million zombies + axe dude = you get raped. You basically just have to keep running around the stage slowly killing things until the dude comes. Honestly, as long as you keep moving the zombies can't do shit.

It locks it to your ACCOUNT. Once you register the key on a game, it means nobody else on any other G4WL account can register. You can still exploit the glitch and use the same key on other games. The only bad apple was Section 8, where no current G4WL key works.
This has been tested and proven by tons of us on here, including myself not more than 10hrs ago, when I registered Resident Evil 5 *after* already registering Red Faction Guerilla with the *same* key |
sabin you should clear it up a bit more regarding keys, its been proven that keys used for more activated games than say 4 seem to get either blacklisted to your account even with pre 3.0 games just released, or they are locking certain club keys etc..
Otherwise if i didnt know anything about this forum etc, id of been scratching my head to why my 5th game im activating with my club key (RE5) says its invalid key please use a diff key etc..... where as (and ive checked) fallout 3 and all my other games using said key are still working fine..
*poke poke*
your key works cause ur RF key im guessing was a new one, and now ur up to 2 games with it?,, otherwise it makes a donkeys dicks sense why after using my key and it still functions on 4 other games that its now not suddenly working..

i tried and tried to get into it but damn. Not bothering any longer. Controls feels like i am aiming with analog stick but with mouse ... (sorry , don't have a 360 pad). I'm used to the whole move or shoot scheme (like it was in all re games), but here, aiming and moving is a chore. Not worth the hassle imho.
