I personally like the stop and shoot part of the game its much more realistic. For those who have fired weapons especially automatics know its not easy to aim and run at the same time. If they allowed to run and shoot in the game it would either make the game too easy or just a waste of ammo if they took the path of realism.

Yeah but Jack Bauer does it all the time.

Mouse control is absolutely f*cked-up. One has one type of sensitivity while walking (lower) and another (higher) while standing or/and just looking around.

This IS akward and darn annoying.

Not to speak the bsod I get, even though I changed/updated drivers, and other games (obviously) don't have issues (BioShock, STALKER etc.).

Agreed. Mouse control could have been better, and the issue that sabin (I think it was him) described earlier really annoys me. And god, I hate it when I'm slashing at a 'zombie' with the knife, everything under control, ready to take him down, and in comes Sheva blasting with the gun only to waste precious ammo. Heh, probably me being too slow to take them down. Great game, nevertheless, with outstanding visuals. I really like it. Smile

Yeah, it was me. I seem to be the only one mentioning it though, aside from you, so I thought perhaps it was JUST me Sad

But yeup, that "pause" as the mouse control takes over from the keyboard is highly irritating.

Mouse control could be better, but it's still way better and more natural than aiming with analog sticks. What really annoys me, though, are the random 10-15-second freezes I get every now and then.

As for the game itself, it's pretty good, just like RE4, and a remarkable port. I rather dislike the no-zombie approach the story has taken, since RE4. Zombies were quite creepier than lunatics running around with axes and crossbows (!).

RE 4 didnt even have real zombies, my guess is it's the evolution of the virus in the story, because they are now capable of handling weapons etc instead of just shambling towards you trying to eat your brains, they may as well be normal humans. But at least the Lickers make a welcome return, man those things are relentless. Some of the Bosses are fucking awesome too so I guess that makes up for it a bit.

Most of the story and past events are explained and cleared up a bit via the various unlockable files, initially the backstory from the previous titles are explained leading up to the events just before the start of the game but more files explain character backstory, virus evolution and some other things, quite useful and unlocked as you play without spending points on bonus items and other unlockables. Meh, can't play with a friend over Hamachi.

I started Hamachi, started the game, minimized and used DLLLoad, maximised and started a server but my friend can't see it. He followed the same steps but LIVE is still showing my internet address as my LAN address.

After playing till chapter 5 end I must say this. Poor Leon got shafted BADLY in RE4. He basically fought and survived more deathtraps alone than chris & sheva do combined in RE5. Not to mention Leon had to also protect that annoying bitch as well as well as fight in a darker environment throughout. This proves that ->

Leon > Chris

HDR=LOW
ReverbQuality=LOW
JobThread=1
in config file by default and no in game settings to change that

i should change it to HIGH for first 2 and change the jobthread to 2
right?

As mentioned previously HDR=Low is default, will use 8-bit floating point HDR calculations whereas high will do 16-bit float or some such, ingame you'll see it called 32-bit and 64-bit or ARGB8 / ARGB16.

Visual differences are very small albeit the performance hit can be about 10 to 15%

As for reverb it's part of the sound and yeah you can set it to high, might make echoes and similar a bit stronger or deeper or what to call it.

Last one takes your CPU into account and is for the amount of additional threads to use, alongside the option under it (Render Thread=On or some such.) so with a value of 1 it'll use the main thread and a secondary one thus using both cores.

Ofcourse some people said they get a 5% or so performance increase when setting this value to 2 for dual cores or 4 for quad cores and so on so give it a try, won't cause any issues due to what I believe is the game only using as many threads as available. Smile

6 chapters with each chapter containing 3 parts. So - 6 x 3 = 18 levels

This game is bloody awesome. Just did the part with the first chainsaw dude, then the zombies on motorcycles. Amazing little sequence.

So is it worth upgrading any of the weapons I have now or should I wait? I have a pistol, machine gun, rifle and shotgun.

And is the vest worth buying?

Upgrade all the time! Whenever you can afford, upgrade. Ammo, Power, Reload Speed (that's my order at least) You get a completely full clip/chamber/magazine for every Ammo upgrade you do, so upgrading when you're out of ammo is a great way to get a free refill.

As for the Vest; absolutely not. It takes up a valuable inventory slot and doesn't give enough protection to make that loss worthwhile.

So you don't get better pistols and rifles later on?

I seem to remember that happened in RE4. Could be mistaken.

I'm managing fine, I'll just wait then. If I hit a block I'll dump some of my 25k cash on it.

Selling treasures is good, yeah? Don't need them later do I?
