I dont know but people who say this game is crap, probably dont apprecciate this genre, iam playing on max settings, runs smooth and looks awesome, but the driving is what matters and its been tuned perfectly its a mix of realism and fun, iam using a wheel and its well worth it, great game finally an NFS that doesnt suck !!

No, the game mechanics are just pretty broken, it still feels like a street racing car put in a track, that's all.
compared with GRiD and other track games it is shit

Game run so fine here ( never drop under 50fps / 100fps > max settings > max AA/AF, but i have a doubt about real AA/AF impact in game )

Maserati races are so crazy ( sound , speed etc.)
Also excelent on my HDprojector + G25 wheel ! OH boy crazy feeling !

What does the EMUDVD mean?

It means that release doesn't have a crack, you mount it with daemon tools and pray it works.

EMUDVD stands for Energizing Monkey Urinals DVD, it's just a fancy scientific term to represent their inability to crack the game, they just make a clone. It only works for disc-base protections, online-based don't allow for the urinals to be energized, then you need a crack always.

Ok I see. What is the bin and dll for in the RELOADED release then?[/b]

You should be careful, Reloaded are known pranksters, and the DLL+BIN combo usually means a worm/virus.

The dll is for dll injection. Haven't you seen the razor1911.dll in the GTA4 cracks by RZR ?

The .bin file just contains some binary data.

1st time I have ever had a bad experience on the usenet. The iso I downloaded was labeled reloaded but then asked for a password. I thought someone else mentioned that earlier but looks like the post has been deleted. I know that RLD doesn't do this so after one page of offers from the URL I deleted the damn thing and got it from a different poster and went to bed while it downloaded. This am I woke and file 56 was corrupt so I ran the pars and dumbass me used the wrong par set and I ended up reconstructing the damn fake version w/ the password. At least I think that's what I did. one and half hour sleep makes me a little dense. Getting the EMU now to be safe and will get the RLD crack and KG after.

On topic: the screenshots you guys are showing do not look like all the preview shots at all. It reminds me of the day Half Life 2 alpha leaked and people were saying, "The first thing you will notice as far as graphics are concerned is that this is just a game....:

/end of no sleep rambling Smile

It crashes while loading the test lap. I've never made it into a race, just the menu. A lot of other people are having this issue as well.

Just solved it. For those of you crashing prior to the test lap install the stand alone PhysX driver off Nvidia's site. I had the one installed in the Shift ISO but it was apparently too old.

Can't change brightness/gamma in game? I would like to bring it down a notch Confused

+1
The game seems indifferent to manual brightness/gamma corrections. I also tried to change them using Atitray but nothing happened.

As for the performance itself, Shift runs quite bad comparing it with GRID, but it's clearly an ATI issue as usual, so there's no reason to rage until new drivers-fixes will be out.
There are several slowdowns when the car is in the finish line zone, or when more than 8 cars are on the driver's view; but the game is still quite playable.
The main "problem" for me is that I tried it after some GTR2 (modded) races...
Shift isn't a bad game, but it's clearly far from a simulation (as the devs continuosly stated), even if it provides a realistic (and fun) feeling using the default cockpit view. The swingman camera is totally forgettable though, but this isn't relevant, at least for me. Some people will complain about the fact that the game appears slightly "soulless": this is quite true if we actually compare it with the old NFS games, but Shift is all about racing, and this is what it counts for a driving game.

Game runs fine here on ati hardware but i don't like the car's handling. All right they might have turn the other way to simulation instead of arcade, though i prefer arcade, which i liked so much in underground and wanted, but it doesn't feel i'm driving a very fast car, don't like the steering at all.

I've no problem in the handling as such, i win most of the races easily but there is a lack of enjoyment about it Sad

this game is so far from NFS series, that true fans of that GENRE shouldnt even try this game. NFS was all about city and countryside maps, free driving, chases with cops... And this game is a clone of some kind shitty "pro racing" stuff. I expect NFS series to return where it belongs and not to SAME LAP racing all day time.

peace

Well, I played some and I'm leaning to agree with Eurogamer's 7/10 review. Maybe it's just the awesomeness of DIRT2 that's clouding my judgment Smile

Need For Speed isn't a "genre" by itself. It's part OF a genre, the "racing" genre, but it's not actually one itself. What you mean to say is;

"this game is so far from the NFS series, that true fans of the FRANCHISE shouldn't even try this game"

Why play at 12-50 ?

EDIT: You mean because he has an ATI card ?

EDIT 2 : This thing lately with ATI users getting screwed is kinda bad. Tropico 3 with its "ubermax resolution only for nvidia", Shift with the screwy drivers (or is it the game's fault ?)

Batman was fair and square though

I'm wondering if the uber-slowdown during physics on RFG is due to ATi as well :-\

No, that is CPU related, because it happens to everyone, except those with quad-core CPUs. Or those that can't see shit and don't "feel" the drop in frames.

It happens to me, too, but also I get the "speedup" issue so loool ... gotta wait for a patch to fix that shit. Didn't really seem to be anything special as a game, just some cheap thrills, we'll see.
