Damn, the only way I got this game working was with both Starfucker and the mini image. They should have included the mini image in the crackfix not just starfucker.

I've translated game.dic file from update 1.2.3.0 to English but The game is still in German. Anyone knows what other files I need to modify to get the English text?

If you got Starfuck you dont need to edit the registry manually. You just have to go to 'Prefrences" and type in the corect paths for Alcohol and D-tools, and select the proper location of your cd-rom. Then you select the proper version of starfoce, click 'Patch Blacklist' and "Disable CDRoms' and without shutting Starfucker down, mount the mini-image and it should work just fine.

aahhhh .... afaik there is only one serial for the game, and it will work only with the mini-image, and never with the install discs. There might be other serial for different countries, but I didn't see any for this game. Read up on Starfoce protection a little. You will see why.

You need to translate GTROptionsP1.gtr and GTRTextOptions.gtr to get more english text in the game, besides game.dic. There is a ready german to english translations floating around, you should grab that. Also get the Pit Crew radio translation from a link in this thread.

the english patch i got replaced every file in the UIData folder.

I just finished my ultimate english translation for GTR, patch 1.2.3.0... Other translations do not work correctly with that latest patch... All is packed in 25mb rar. I used WinRar with Best compression ratio but i think it can be even smaller if i use some other archiever or advanced compression options. Do you guys have a tip for that?
List of changes:
1. ALL English texts (doh!).
2. No intro movies.
3. Better headlight textures.
4. PitCrew instead big red arrow.
5. Pit sounds not included coz they are too big, and you can get them from the link posted in this thread.
If anyone can host the file or knows a good place to host it, PM...

It worked on german with no problems with latest patches. But if i put the english translations in the game folder then i get some error. That's why I made my own translation and now it works with no problems on English. Anyway I use Daemon Tools mounted Mini Image, StarFuck 0.83 (Patch Blacklisting, Disable CDRoms) and that little registry hack...

doesn't seem to work at all for me with the patches installed, tried both with latest daemon tools and latest alcohol 120% :/, works without em though.
am I the only one with this prob?

yeah I know, I'm doing that, still doesn't work (I had to do that to get the first version running aswell), if I install a patch.. no dice :/

that release.. use invfx source... and the_bug english patche. Btw if u have problems.. unninstall alchool and dtools install game, apply patches and then run SF83 and it works like charm

Released 2 days ago, but it's same as iNVFX release + English patch for 1.1.0.0 you can download... So that release sucks! It doesn't even have English pit sounds and not everything is translated...

Well ... I have not touched anything else since this game came out ( ok, I did touch my wife twice  ). I got friends coming over every day just to get 20 laps in between work and school. I guess it all depends how serious are you about racing cars in general. Most of my friends are racing fans and either spend their money so they can go to race some carts over the weekends or do participate in local cross country racing. We even have a full blown autoclub going. So this game is right up our alley.
There is nothing to upgrade, pass, or win in this game. So if you would like to put a new carbon-fiber hood on the ride you would need NFS. The real satisfaction in this game comes from learning the official courses, getting a feel for these powerfull cars, meanwhile improving on your lap times. Also, I would not recomend playing this game with anything but a wheel. Im sure you could play with analog controller, but Its like playing Il-2 strurmovik with a keyboard [not a good idea].
The grfx are excellent, with each car modeled accurately to the smallest deatail. Track geometry is probably they best I have ever seen, with many small imperfections build into it, which sometimes makes for a really bumpy, on the edge racing. The car phisics are superb. I never played a game where I had to constanly monitor tire and break temperature to make sure that I got proper traction/stopping power.
In a nutsheell; This game is probably the most realistic racing simulator available for PC (and certainly there wont be a better one for console). Yes, it is only a game, but it was made by people who actually race these cars so they tried really hard to replicate real-life.
In a smaller nutshell; Yes, this game is great.
