The game automatically turns down/off some PhysX effects if it detects you are having performance issues because of it. With my SLI GTX260's I get everything. However, I can't see an 8800GT having enough VRAM or power to be able to run stuff without slowing down.

I've got everything to the max with physx turned off averaging about 54FPS

and for shits and giggles, ima put that piece of shit physx card I in that I got for free that's just sitting in a box.

Calculating what to do with shader code and calculating numbers for physics are two completely different things. Obviously, GPU's as we know them are better at the first task, not the latter.

Yep. He's a rebel without a cause.

Is the DLC worth playing?

Yeah, it is, it's pretty short though. In the first map, goons spawn infinitely, along with lunatics (who are incredibly annoying, because they constantly jump on you out of your LoS, so you can't block and you can't use shift + moves on them). The second one is a predator map that has some interesting challenges.

This game is so good it's ridiculous, best fighting I've ever seen as well, it's so fun and smooth looking, you can counter-punch at the last minute and the animations are different depending on your position, sometimes I turn my back on purpose.

How does Batman look later in the game, does he lose some of his cape and clothes randomly or is it scripted like that?

ps. Who are these guys, I hope they make some more games Very Happy

Scripted, he gets damage according to the cut scene preceding.

hahah
hadn't noticed that
that's awesome

when i started playing this, i honestly didn't expect myself to finish it
i've always hated games with button smashing fighting
but the gadgets and the stalking gameplay drew me in and ended up loving the fighting
it's no riddick or mount&blade in fight controls, but sufficient and the animations look awesome
only way a batman game could be better was if it was a freeform gotham city with GTA-like mission structure, which i think is pretty high praise as i don't think that would work very well as a game
perhaps if the game mapped batman's entire career from wayne's return to gotham, starting to build his crime fighting infrastructure and ending up with cleaning the city of crime
ended up finally buying the game last night

nah, the option is in the .ini for the fact the UE3 supports DX10, but no batman is DX9 only.

And fucking christ this "phsyx" shit is such a god damn scam. I've got the damn thing turned off and there goes batman, kicking garbage cans and shit, oh but lets enable it to medium to get moving paper! ON HIGH YOU CAN KILL TILES! Havok is going to break this shit once it goes hardware accelerated.

And dear fucking god I finally did it, and I want a fucking achievment for it, I knocked a guy out by cutting down a dangler Very Happy

No, no and hundred times no, I'm sick of sandbox pussy games, this is a real game, better than all sandbox games put together. Turn this into sandbox and you have Prototype, only good sandbox is Gta the rest are just lousy Gta copies.

The game runs a lot faster for me with dx10 enabled.

Run the benchmark, then enable the d3d10 option, then run the benchmark again. I did it and it was exactly the same, I believe that option has no effect.

At the (A few posts) above DX10 tweak: It can't work as the DX10 files are missing (\BmGame\CookedPC and the two "shader cache" files, only SM 3.0 so now DX10 support as it would require SM 4.0)

Either it doesn't do anything or some effects are skipped and missing so it appears faster.
(It's a standard UE3 command available in all UE3 engine titles but not all UE3 titles use DX10, infact I can only think of Gears of War PC using it for enabling AA with it's deferred render method //EDIT: Bioshock used it.)

My guess is, it uses the DX10 render path which is more efficient than DX9, but because there are no extra DX10 goodies (Shader etc.) it is much faster. But I'm only guessing here. Anyway I've uninstalled it already after finishing it, so can't test whether it actually runs faster or I only perceived it as being faster.

so, is it about 20-25 hours of gameplay???

when you finish the story, can you run around freely and search for missing stuff, or do you have to start again and collect them as you play?

You can select "Continue Story" and collect everything. But beware, enemies you haven't dealt with could pop up (like the annoying crazies in the outside area and one I remember in a bathroom). Smile
