Yes, I did. I was hoping for something more of a step by step tutorial to ease into the game mechanics instead of running to the tabletop rules and waste a night reading them.

It's not too difficult, you just need about 3-4 matches to understand what's going on. You have the game's manual, right ? There should be a foler named "Manual"

Is there a way to turn off these freaking turnovers? I'm sick of messing up the first thing I do each turn that results in my turn ending.
First I mess up scooping up the ball, the enemy moves in on it. Then in the next turn I try to leave it last, but then I mess up a tackle, turnover, enemy gets the ball, touchdown.

The turn-over system is an essential part of the game. Perform your least risky actions first and save the riskier ones for last. Instead of running to scoop up the ball first thing, position some people around it just in case your pickup guy fails. Then, perform tackles in which you have a clear advantage (where you get one or two extra dice rolls more than the enemy). Last, try to pick up the ball with your designated ball pickerupper.
This all varies from team to team of course, but you get the idea. Always assume the action you're taking is going to fail resulting in a turn-over - plan ahead.
It took me three or four days of playing to get the hang of it and understand the tackle system (zones of defense etc.) but once I did it became incredibly addictive.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

I have 3 matches behind me, and I got used to the turnovers. I realized that without it, the game would be too easy.
Now I just need to win for once. First humans pounded my orks, then Skavens won 2-1, then I got a 0-0 against a dwarf team. That was a bloodbath. First they killed one of my goblins, then I killed one of their guys. Then one of them got sent to the sides for kicking one of my downed orcs. After that, I managed to send 4 of their teamates to the medic tent by concentrated tackling, and another two by kicking them out of the field and leaving the dirty work to the fans.
It was a really close one too. In the 15th turn, I managed to get the ball and pass it to one of my orcs (I was really suprised that he caught it). He got quickly surrounded, managed to free him but the end-zone was too far. Should have picked it up with a goblin or a blitzer.

It is important to have a designated/specialized ball handler. And put skills that help with picking up the damn ball (lol) and stuff to avoid screw-ups, like the Pro skill. It's not hard, because the player that scores gains skill points, so you can level him up quickly.
The main warriors need the Tackle and the Block skill above all ! Maybe +1 in Strength, too, hehehe.
It's important to remember that the computer uses rerolls like you do, that's why sometimes his idiots seem to whiz past your players like it's nothing. After the rerolls run out, then he's very likely to suffer a turnover.

If you liked Chaos League, you will love this.
After all, chaos League was based on Bloodbowl table top.
They got to actually use Bloodbowl for this one.
Same guys that made Chaos League made this.

Thanks for replies, just one more thing bothering me, is real time mode covers all skills and generally fun to play as it was in CL? I've seen on youtube what turn-based aspect was given a big attention, didn't they save their time on realisation of real-time then?

Seems pretty cool from what I've seen so far, but the tutorials aren't a lot of help. I love strategy, football and warhammer though, so I see potential. The problem may be to see if I have patience enough to learn the game with so much other shit to play hehe.

Realtime plays exactly like Chaos League.
It's called "Blitz" mode in game.
At beginning,y ou pick between "Classic" or "Blitz".

No, Blitz only allows you to play real time, but you can just as well play turn based. Classic is TB only.

You decide before starting a one-off match or at the beggining of the campaign. I'm not sure you can change mid-campaign.

Blitz = realtime | Blitz=real-time OR turn-based (there is a switch at the setting up of the campaign).
I'm playing a Blitz campaign (trainings, ageing, contratcs, etc), with turn based gameplay.

After choosing Blitz you'll have the option to choose RT or TB at the lower left part of the screen. Classic mode is TB only as was the tabletop obviously.

i have not played the board game. but the premise seems like it would be entertaining at least. boy, i was wrong! there are so many pop-ups it's like browsing the web without an ad filter. after a play, it pops up a message that says hit 'spacebar for blah, blah, blah...' i don't care! just let me play uninterrupted.
then the players go brain dead and just stands around the field don't nothing. the controls are clunky and awkward. also, before you play, you have to go through what seems like 20 screens of questions. name your team or you cannot continue even if you want to use the default name. wtf? does the dev want to annoy the heck out of the player before even making it to the field to play?
this game also tries to switch back to full screen mode no matter what even if you want to alt-tab to the desktop. if you do, it throws you right back to full screen mode.
anyway, might be fun if the make the pre-game setup and game controls more smoothly. as it is, it's rough and clumsy. this one is getting uninstalled.

Couldn't figure out from your post if you tried RT or TB, but if you tried the RT version then it's no wonder. The game is designed to be played in turns and the real time mode was added by the devs as an afterthought. This game is like chess, making it fun in real time is futile.
That is not to say the game doesn't have it's share of problems, hopefully fixed in the patches.

Anyone around with more experience of the campaign game? I've played around 20 matches now, and won 4 cups. I have experience from the boardgame, and my team has gotten very strong, to a point where opposing teams usually get 1M+ to buy extra star players and such for, while my own winnings mostly disappear due to the spiralling expenses feature.
It was a lot of fun in the beginning, but seems to have gone a little stale. Do the cups ever develop any more, and do other teams get better and start getting high team values? Every cup I've played has been mostly the same, with a few randomized teams, and even great teams from Blood Bowl "history" like the Reikland Reavers etc have been pretty tame. Seems to me like the campaign game could benefit from some more structure and throwing a few curve balls at you rather than following the same randomized concept ad infinitum.

It's definitely not for everyone.
I find the controls clumsy in real time, but not at all in TB.
