What do you mean, get rid ? I just build an armoury and 2-3 of guard posts (as many generals as I have) around my island. That should keep you kinda safe. If the rebels are weak, the game informs you that they went to the mountains for some time. (they may come back later)

Also, I think the immigration office can help with the "love it or leave it" policy, I see some people leaving, so I guess a few rebels less. Laughing

I believe the police is kinda like the army, but when you don't want militarists to gain power.

I want them to move into a house that costs more rent (naturally that is what I want Very Happy)
I thought the higher living quality would be enough but noooo. They're gonna stay in that old run down apartment instead of the nice house which is almost next to the clinic the doc is working in.

I don't think you can manually decide for people where to live. If the doctor values high quality housing ( a star near housing I think) he will eventually move to a better place if his salary allows him. If he's not a material guy and instead prefers religion, tough luck.
Anyway, why do you care about that doctor so much? Surprised Someone else will rent it anyway...

Just uesd them as an example for higher wage jobs that's all.

About the food.

Just go to almanac / people / food.

There you se meals supplied and meals skipped.

Meals skipped should be 0 otherwise it could be that you are not producing enough food or dont have a central marketplace.

Yes, but if people need to starve in order for me to realize I don't have enough food it is missing the point. The idea is to know before you initiate double rations. With the lazy construction workers, building a farm and then waiting until it begins to deliver food, it's not ideal.

You can increase liberty by building newspapers, tv stations, radio stations, cabarets, movie theaters, etc.

I realized that Smile . It was more a question of how to get rid of it. I only played and finished the first mission though, that might be it.
There was also too little space to build. Is this because it was the first misison?
Do I have to spread my schools, churches, clinics etc.? There aren't any coverage areas like in Simcity.

What graphics card do you have? If you're not sure go Start>run and type in dxdiag [enter] and look under the display tab. If it's just some onboard video card you'll need to get a proper graphics card.

It isn't DX9 drivers, it's your video card. Try getting the driver for your card. If that doesn't help, then you card really isn't supported.

How are you handling salaries, guys?

I'm paying college-educated $25, high school-educated $20 and uneducated $15. The exceptions to the latter are builders and teamsters, who get $20 since I'm hoping that makes them work better.

It's nearly 1970 in my sandbox game, and I've been doing pretty well. I've plenty of money at the moment, and should start investing in tourism and power-using buildings. At first, my income came from an oil well, but now I've branched into the logging industry, the full tier: logging camps, sawmills and furniture factories. Well, just one factory for now.

Too bad the game seemingly and inexorably ends in 2000 at the latest... Does anyone know if you can go on playing after that? I remember Transport Tycoon Deluxe ended in 2050, but allowed you to play on. Score just froze at that point. Maybe there's a similar mechanic at work here.

I read over on the kalypso forum it's the same as previous games. You have the option to keep playing but your score is not recorded.
