There's no language or region specific information about the game in the registry from what I've seen (Installshield values themselves perhaps?) and it'll use Tages for all editions (Unsure about Steam though.) so chances are there won't be any localized patches at all.
(Might be for the Audio_*.pak file if they do like in Gothic 3 with .Pak for original data and .p00 and the p01 and so on for patched data but you should still be able to use any of the patches.)
And yeah while technically you could count a lot of older games with isometric view (Arcanum, Fallout games etc.) imo they don't count because it's just randomly generated with no real content.
You really don't have a clue, their areas were hand made as well, maybe you're thinking about Diablo?
Fallout 1 and 2 were post nuclear games, so they were supposed to be baren in most areas.

Yeah that came out a bit wrong, I of course meant only the areas outside of cities and other marked locations - that is, the places you came across when you either stopped of your own accord or encountered some enemies when traveling in the world map. For Fallout they of course hand-made these random encounters as well (cliffside, beach, empty desert, cave entrance in FO2 etc.), but they were still randomly generated in the sense of what you actually encountered. Compare to Gothic/MW&OB/Two Worlds where each and every place the player could reach was truly unique.
And if you remember Arcanum's world map, whenever you reached the border of some town for example, the world map button lit up and you could fast travel to some other location. It wasn't forced on you, you could still continue walking in normal game mode, but there wasn't really anything there except a lot of trees and a few wolves here and there.
So I guess what I was trying to say that there's a very distinct difference between a fully seamless free-roaming world that the player can experience (Gothic & Elder Scrolls series, Two Worlds), and the way that some other CRPG's portray the game world.
I wouldn't say that the former is necessarily a better way to go about it (especially with the current limitations and problems it has), but it's still a fun experience especially those who like to explore and discover hidden locations.

inz, you clueless noob, not remembering exactly what was random generated and what not about 15 year old games. pfff! i despise you!
I've come to the conclusion that Piranha Bytes haven't got a fucking clue how to implement combat in their games.
Welcome to Gothic 4, urmmm.. I mean Risen... home OF THE FUCKING BOAR RAPE! God damn it. Seriously, great game - about to be uninstalled due to the pathetic combat (what started as enjoyable quickly became tedium of the highest order) and hideous "it's a boar!! you go die now, kthxbai!!" bollocks mentality of the fucknuts at PB. I don't give a shit if "it's realistic!!!!111 you couldn't fight a full grown boar in real life!!11" If I wanted realism, I'd go and hunt a fucking REAL boar. I want an enjoyable game, which Gothic 4 (uuurr... Risen... sorry) is, if only you completely remove the combat.
Shit, even combat against "humans" is EXACTLY as bad.
Block. They hit and hit through your attack. "Urgh!!" you stumble back. You try to dodge, they swing and hit you. "Urgh!!" you stumble back, with half your health gone in the process.
Rinse repeat for three swings, you die, reload, try it all again.
Alright inz my mistake, I took you for a clueless noob talking bad about the original Black Isle and Troika games... one must never do that!
I'm happy to see that I was wrong, and you're right in a sense, but those 'random' encounters also gets pulled from a list of hand made areas, so I suppose they're only random in what you encounter but the areas themselves not being random. And yes the Arcanum world was very barren if you didn't fast travel.

Fucking uninstall.
You need to look at what your opponent is doing, combat isn't just about clicking the mouse, you also have to choose which way to swing with the wsad keys, if you just click with the mouse you fail, almost on auto.
This isn't a hack n slash, so you fail.
The combat is very good, it is actually challenging, and not as in Witcher or Divinity 2 where it only consists of clicking the mouse, I'm glad that they didn't dumb it down like that.
So boars and other animals have mulitple attacks now, do they? Bullshit. Prove it. I'm playing the game right now and they have one, single, attack; they lunge forward and hit you. You can block, sure, but if you try to hit; bang. you get hit. Sometimes, and this is just awesome, they snout-rush three times! ZOMG! What amazing differences in attack patterns! Snout-rush once OR three times! It's amazing!
I don't fail, Piranha Bytes fails - just like they did on their FIRST three games
There's nothing challenging about the combat in this, nothing whatsoever. It's luck, pure and simple luck. You either get lucky and are able to dodge, or you don't. You either get lucky and can attack after guarding, or you don't. You either get lucky and the animals/creatures don't rape the shit out of you, or you don't.

Maybe you should try not attacking when they do but actually wait and attack afterwards?
And no since you can't work this out on your own you do fail.

you're absolutly right ! I mean boars in real life have like that whole bunch of attack moves, and and katanas and and throwing stars and and you know, are like invisible and and attack from different sides and and you know ... wtf ..
a boar is a boar is a boar. They charge you frontally, what do you expect ?

Stop fucking condescending. I've just spent the last two hours playing this, I'm not some fucking newbie. I don't just spam the mouse button and I sure as hell don't attack when THEY do. I guard, circle, wait, guard more, try to attack when they're not ... OOPS! Sorry, they attacked first. Diddums. F9 and try again plz.
Oh and by the way; holding a direction and pressing attack changes NOTHING. He has no other attacks, right now, except his standard 3-swing strike. You can hold A and press attack; same sequence. You can hold D and press attack; same sequence.

And I'm just that über then since I'm not having problems dispatching foes? No I don't believe that. I believe you just don't understand how the combat works, simple as that.
Rather than saying "omg the game is broken!" maybe try and figure stuff out.

Gothic series has always had issues with the animals. They're massively overpowered and spam the shit out of you. I don't know what game you're playing, but you're obviously not playing Risen or Gothic 3, if you can't see that boars/vultures/wolves just constantly spam attack you and you have no chance of defending *and* attacking. Pick one, because you can't do both.
If you're such an expert, show me the how the combat "works" - because from what I see? Guard, Guard, Guard, Guard, hope the animal has a heart-attack and dies.
