I really like the gfx, too ! Guess some of that has to do with PhysX Cool Face

Yeah might be. I started to think that all the flags would have cloth animation but dunno Smile No dynamic weather though, wind is blowing from left to right on all tracks Razz

Back to tuning SL65 AMG. Dang that car is a biatch to get good, well had it perfect earlier, trouble was just that it was sloooow Smile

Liking all the badges too, gotta get 'em all! Just 3 or so epics so far and missing every online badge, as I've yet to start it.

I've modified the handling in order to have a more GTR2-alike feeling.
This mod obiouvsly works only in Pro mode, here is what I've changed:

- Grip reduced from 120% to 100% (the "real" value);

- Enabled additional damages that were off by default (gearbox, engine, tyres etc.);

- AI Aggression reduced to 40% (no more kamikaze AI behaviour);

- Objects can now damage the car when hit.

Recommeded settings: Acceleration sensitivity = 50% and Acceleration deadzone = 0% (you'll feel the real power of your car).

Replace the PHYSICSBOOTFLOW.bff original file with the modified one (remembering to backup the original PHYSICSBOOTFLOW.bff first).

Some info on a modification by the user who did the Grid DX10 revamp, some improved visuals overall and such. Smile

It looks great. BeetleatWar1977 is always a master in terms of gfx mods Smile

Anyway, my research is biased mostly on physics (since gfx are already great). There are tons of parameters to tune, but obiouvsly the meaning of a great part of them is still unknown. Hypotetically, is possible to modify everything, from cameras to physics and damages, including AI behaviour, tracks, cars and all the visual effects as well.
We could expect huge mods quite soon...

EDIT: importing custom liveries looks quite easy too Razz

Like in the link on the previous page with the fixes some guy mentioned he has problems on tuning the lambo Murcielago. I have the same problem that tuning the gear shifts on that car actually seems to work opposite directions.
Obviously someone wasn´t too confident with terms in racing so he screwed up the behaviour of what its doing.... here is the thing.

If you push the slider on the gear ratio max to speed it actually seems to reduce your top speed, I won´t get higher then like 220 kph. Now you could argue that the car doesn´t have enough hp to get to the top speed with spoilers slightly increased to improve cornering (Ihave them both at 10). But I guess that´s kinda odd and wrong.
Now if you put the slider to max acceleration I can reach about 250-260 kph which is completely the opposite behaviour of what you would expect.
Either it´s a bug or my understanding of mechanics is bugged, which the later I doubt highly.

So anybody else can verify that behaviour? Someone said this thing should reach 300 kph on straights.

Tried the online. First race picked Z06 and the think I feared happened there too, car didn't move at all Smile

Next race car level was limited to 10 and my BMW was closest with ~8.5. Was waaaaay behind everyone else and finished second last (one didn't start). Checked players stats and the were 1-15 on the driver profile and I'm currently 37..

Didn't see any limitations to driving aids, there probably weren't, but I was driving Pro. Don't know how fast they actually went, hit the sandpit and got rear ended in the pit. After that I didn't see anyone again Razz Well settings seemed to be poo on my i135, have to tune for future.

If you think loading times are bad on SP, you should have seen MP. It took minutes to get the 7 player race going. Second race I waited probably 5min and nothing happened, just the loading screen, couple players left (pop up comes on left of the screen) and had to alt+tab my self too.

No ingame chat, but there is lobby chat on the screen visible always. Seems to have gazillions of players, make a search of recently played players starting "mus" and list was looong.

Not so impressed yet on the MP, have to open ports to see if that speeds things up, or maybe there was someone just with a bad connection or really slow computer. Other really bad thing was you can't exit race start loading and it the same screen as in SP track loading with no info on what is happening.

Seems it's a bit too much console like, but have to test it more to know better. Oh ad the usual 0:00.00 times in the leaderboards, maybe it'll upload my times there if I'll keep it connected, as GRID did. Looked at some leaders there and they had like 11 SP races and over 100 MP ones, weird. Probably a new profile. One had 127 SP wins with 0 losses, yeah right..

Hopefully next time is a much better experience. Ranked games surely work better, though didn't try hosting to see if there is kick/ban options.

It would be nice to have Custom Decals and GFX for the cars instead of the ones in the game.

Like Forza Motorsport they can be customized but not in NFS Shift

correct me if i am wrong maybe there is a decal pack somewhere in the cyber world

I like it how easy it is to overtake a car with Murcielago and GT-R. Just drive close and push ahead under the opponent. He's back end is lifted and you can just drive through under him.

Do it ninja style!

Real mod Out!

http://forum.racedepartment.com/need-for-speed-shift-mods/24041-need-for-speed-shift-real-mod-1-0-a.html

-Complete modification of physics....
-AI less aggressive, more competitive, and more crashes during the races...
- Damages! any damage is now active and they affect more on the car.
-Alternative cameras (useless?)
-All surfaces are now updated. no more "holes" in the tracks, it feels more smooth overall, and all the dirt surfaces, and also walls, guard rails etc. are now more realistic.
-Little change in the menu...

Need for Speed Shift – Real Mod 2.0 (UPDATED 04.10.2009)

Here it is, the new and final version of the mod.

•NEW TIRES MODEL: entirely rewritten models for all the cars with three separate “slip curves”.
•NEW AI MODEL: more competitive, less aggressive, and make fewer mistakes.
•NEW CHASSIS MODEL: all data from the chassis of all the cars now are correct.
•NEW COCKPIT CAM: now it’s like a real “onboard camera”.
•NEW TRACK SURFACES: all the surfaces are now correct.(same as 1.0)
Note: I will not work anymore to develop this mod: I will correct the mod only if you find any major bugs, like flying cars, IA mad or things like that, or of you find that the files are different from the description.

This mod do not include anything about Force Feedback.

Quote:
[installation instructions]

Copy the .bff files in the “Program Files\Electronic Arts\Need for Speed SHIFT\Pakfiles” folder.
Make sure to backup original files before.

If you have an unpacked version of the game use the files in the “UNPACKED VERSION ONLY” folder.

You can do whatever you want with this mod, but if you want to publish a modified version please mention the original name and its creator.

Looks primising indeed. After some guys programmed the .bff repacker, Shift became very mod-friendly, and EA surely won't be happy for this. Laughing

By default you obiouvsly have the packed version, since you can see all the .bff game files;
you just have to overwrite the 3 original .bff files with those that come with this mod.
The unpacked version is for the people who already unpacked .bff files using this method:
