This 'IS' battlefield 3 renamed imo.
Will be buying defiantly as long as the planes n helis are drivable and it is not as pathetically squad based like arma is.

There will be no jets, but choppers of course will be drivable, just like in BC1.

This is primarily developed for consoles so maps are smaller designed for less players. Jets in BF2 are a blessing and a curse, with a good pilot it turns into air superiority, one person making entire team win. Also there are many useless people who just stand at Jet spawn point. I play BF2 and BF:BC1 online and it's really great that one game has jets and other doesn't Smile

Anyway, BF3 is in development, which, to my understanding, will be a full out PC game so it will feature massive maps, jets and all that.

Don't get me wrong, BC2 will be amazing, just like BC1 is Smile

I'm certainly looking forward to this game more and more. Hopefully some mates will get it as well and we'll have a blast in our three-five man group. ^_^

i always hated jets in bf2. Once a good pilot get his hands on one, its basicly gg. He will bomb any tank or other vehicle as soon as they move out of base, which is as annoying as it gets.

Unfortunately, choppers in BC1 were a joke compared to their BF2 counterparts.

I wouldn't worry about air too much Sin317, DICE has made their stance on aircraft crystal clear for a while now - nerf the aircraft, up the AA and make it as easy to use as possible. Come BF3 I doubt they'll be a force to be reckoned with, no matter who's behind the stick

I'll keep my elaboration short, because, quite frankly, BC1 deserves nothing more. Ready? You could easily down a chopper with your pistol or assault rifle. Rolling Eyes

As expected, you are full of shit. Well yes you can down a chopper theoretically if it just idles in front of you and you have 3 mags to waste.

Lets see you try out that theory,

A AH-64 or MIL-24 would turn you into a grease spot before you had the chance. They got armor that will stop 7.62x39 and 5.56.You certainly do not have any body armor that would stop 30mm,23mm,or even 14.5. Laughing

Or, you know, 3 men with 1 mag each. The bottom line is that an armored assault helo should only be wary of two things out there - Antiaircraft Guns/SAMS or AT rockets. At least BF2 got that part right.

Every map on BC was small/focused enough to where, no matter where on the battlefield a helo might have been, you could reach it with an " I WIN" AA gun. There was no need for personal weaponry to add to air coverage aside from the AT rocket.

More often then not infantry in BC would stop whatever they were doing when a helo flew overhead. Instead of taking cover however they would point towards the sky and let loose. The smallest AR in that game, if I recall correctly, had 60 rounds in the clip. The largest MG had close to 300 in a clip. 1 bullet = 1 point of damage. You do the math. Point is, infantry looked at helos as easy kills (as more often than not it would be previously damaged by some other infantry doing the same thing he was about to do).

BC airpower is a joke.

I don't know what are you basing your experience on, because I play BC online almost every day, and what you describe never happened. I never was shot with assault rifle when in a chopper and i never shot a chopper with assault rifle. Also maps are way bigger then whet you make them out to be. Maybe you played it for 5 minutes at your friends or something, and that's how you made your entire opinion, but that's now how BC really is or plays.

Try it sometime, it works wonders.

Got it on release and played it till I had 62,944 points on the account (logged into check just for this thread ). Not sure how many hours total that was, but it was well beyond max rank. In that time I killed countless choppers with my main gun (be it assault rifle, smg, mg) and had the same happen to me.

If you don't believe me hop in a game and test it out with someone. The ratio is something along the lines of 1-1.5 pts. of damage to the chopper per bullet no matter the source.

Oh man, Battlefield 3 and Bad Company 2 forums are now full of people begging devs to not remove dedicated servers and they even got a reply from a DICE employee Laughing

Quote:
We feel it's important to support the unique community needs of the PC community. Dedicated servers are a big part of this, and we recognize that requirement. We're putting a server browser and matchmaking in 1943 PC and the same features are intended for BFBC2. We're working hard on the PC version with a dedicated team building and molding the game so it is not a console port. This team is lead by DICE developers responsible for Battlefield 2. Very experienced and hardcore PC gamers.

Yeah I feel the same.
I wonder will they this time put good damage into weapons.
I remember MGs in BF2 - they were useless, despite ammo supply thing.
Accuracy and DMG were just LoL.

Details on the limited edition of the game, slightly messy article as usual from Worthplaying but just read the highlighted "bold" text. Smile
(Six ingame unlocks, probably singleplayer.)

EDIT: Missed it in the article ( Razz ) they're for multiplayer, seems everyone can unlock them but this gives the "perks" early.

so its almost a must buy then lol.

Hate when special edition boxes add stuff like this, that , imo, can make a big difference ingame ... (unless all of the unlocks are also available later for anyone else through perks etc).
