there's hardly any difference between the settings for me. it runs choppy with everything set to low or off, and only gets slightly choppier on high.
makes me think the game doesn't properly utilize multiple cores.
it's playable, but somewhat unnerving.

I've never even looked at the journal. Although I had gotten a quest to clear out "things" from the ruins and it's not there. Nor are the trainers, traders showing up from the swamp town either.

Can you not just sell shit for gold? Freaking ridiculous. People give you 30 gold for bringing them a piece of raw meat but I can't sell a sword?

Guess I can save and see.

Food is definitely in high demand from the story aspect from what I have been hearing from the NPC's so makes sense.
As for peformance - Running it fine on q6600 2.4Ghz, 4GB RAM, 8800GT
Right now I'm running 3 boots: xp, vista and win7.
I had first installed it on my XP drive which is LONG overdue for a fresh install. Performance dropped to unplayable just after reaching the first house up off the beach.
I then installed it on Vista 64, and was running avg 35-45 fps. Lowering the shadows "Low" kicked it up to 55. I also turned off Depth of Field mainly just due to not liking the effect.
One thing odd I did notice is that lowering the AS below x16 added this strange black dot filter effect. It was really noticeable during the cut scenes on the skin tones, light colored object, but was present throughout during movement. Only movement as its like a static filter that covers the screen....kicking AS back to x16 made it unnoticeable again.
I did get one "Out of Memory" error after 4 hour marathon, so seems to be a small memory leak which I probably didn't help by alt-tabbing a couple of times during the session.
I'll be moving it to Win7 Pro 64bit once I finish installing the drivers, etc but I was anxious to play.
Overall, I'm enjoying it a lot. I was a big fan of Gothic 1&2 so after the 3 thing I'm glad to see PB getting back on track.

Ive also got problems with the journal! I cant se a single entry in it. No quests, traders or anything. Playing it on a rather clean install of windows 7 and cant seem to find any solution to my problem.

OK i got a gold sword piece from the drunk guy, craig, dead guy in cave, brogar the tough guy where is the one at the insect spot? that i read earlier in the thread??

It's extremely easy to alter settings and it's very clear what each value does, some are a bit confusing at first but it's easy to tweak the game, I also posted a customized INI several pages back that'll try to push visuals as high as possible.
For example shadows can be demanding so if you use high settings you might want to find the values it use and then disable SSAO or soft-shadows, even reduce the draw distance for them or alter the resolution down from 1024 to 512 or so, vegetation draw distance can be lowered a bit further down as well, also as a bonus changing RetroQuestMessageSystem="false" to true enables a more classical quest interface with far less hints and helps.

Anyone found both parts of the Souldrinker and broken Bastardsword (i forgot the name)?
I found 1 Part of the Souldrinker (the blade/edge/tip dunno in english version) and 1 part of the broken Bastardsword (the broken part. i need the blade/edge/tip).
I can also provide the locations of the two parts ive already found, when theres a need of course.

only got one souldrinker part yet too
