First one has to be the ugliest face I've seen so far, second image is just a odd monster I encountered when exploring.
Spoiler: |
Ruins at the side of the main island, gave a achievement as well - Death of a Legend, when killed, surrounded by gnomes though those weren't that tough, that demon thing is probably the toughest enemy I've killed so far even above Ashbeasts and the Petrovic or what it's name was skeleton lord whom I encountered shortly before while exploring another ruin, got four unfinished-finished quests now just due to exploring, finding a shaman as I got his staff and shirt previously, gnome toolbacks as I have about 25 of them now, Legend of the Gyrger for killing that monster and the Death of Petrovic or what it's name was for killing that skeletal lord.

are you sure the first one isn't a monster too? it's obviously an alien.

Bah, stuck with the Harbor Town quests:
Spoiler: | I'm supposed to find out how the smugglers are getting out of the city and the only lead I've got is some connection to the brothel... But I've combed that place through and talked to everyone and there simply isn't anything there.
Also, I've dealt with all the bandit men in town for Order, and now the boss wants me to get rid of their leader. Problem is, I had never heard of him before (Crado or something?), and he didn't say anything about where he might be found. And I've been pretty much everywhere in the town, barring some few places (most likely unimportant for quests' sake) because I have no lockpicking skill. |

@inz
The main brothel chick told me exactly how to get to the guy. Did you buy any info from her, pay for the prostitute, help the other chicks?

Hi, this is my first post on this board, though I've been reading here for quite some time.
I've played Risen for approximately 8h now, and I must say, I am quite positively surprised.
First, PB have made an excellent choice, porting the G1/2 game mechanic/gameplay to a new and modern game. They simply did what they can do best.
The World, has an amazing level of Detail, not just via the gfx but also due to the unique arrangement of every inch of Land.
The characters have (what a character should have) character!
The combat system is demanding in the beginning but even more gratifying, should you win a fight.
Finally, choosing your side on the island isnt an easy choice, morally. This is not Bioware or Bethesda where Good and Evil are easily defined (Renegade&Paragon anyone?). The three factions all have their moral conflicts to go through for the player. For my part, I can understand each of their viewpoints, so choosing which side to play on wasnt an easy task for me. I sided with the Bandits as I thought the island should belong to them. But really the harder the choice, the more I have to think about it, get opinions from people on the island and so on, the better. This is maybe the best part of the game for me.
This is my personal goty, maybe even the most interesting game since the last 3 years.
Also thanks to the people on nfohump for their support, especially JBeckman.
(Btw. I'm from Luxemburg, so English isnt my native language. Some expressions could sometimes sound weird)
EDIT: One Question though: Is it normal that you get only a very small percentage of the value of items from the merchants? Do all merchants have the same prices? Selling items really doesnt serve alot. Then again, it makes you want more skills for making money.

Really enjoying the game, so much better than the unbearable Gothic 3. Am a huge Gothic 2 fan and this brings back some memories. Harbortown reminds me a lot of Khorinis.
Anyways, I'm having trouble Spoiler: | "collecting" from Alvaro the smith. I can't find his cellar where the blade staff is. I pickpocketed his key but have no lock picking skill. I tried every door in his house. Can't find anybody to teach lockpicking | Dunno

Try to get lockpicking skills +2 and of course sneaking. It really helps getting money and adds a lot of fun to the gameplay.
Spoiler: | The staff is in the basement of his house. I had to pick the lock on the door to the basement and the chest in his basment. |
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Ahh, well now Cid will teach me lockpicking, but I have no LP, and I think I need to be able to lock pick to advance the quest. Damn.

Just started the game but got a strange problem; there's no map visible - just the outline of it with nothing in it.
Anyone else got this problem? Game runs perfect on highest settings.

You have to find or buy the actual map to see it in the map screen.

Yep, not sure if that's going to change once you advance in ranks for a certain faction, but i doubt it

Anybody else seen a weird bug with the Avenged release, it all works perfectly except there is no actual audio for the voices, just text.
Anybody else seen it? Or better still know how to fix it?
