really? I know PSU's are exaggerated as fuck but I really never know lol. Was just going to throw a new one in there just to be sure. If used that 510watt it'd be powering everything new I posted + a 500GB, 320GB and 70GB SATAII HD's, a SATA Blu-Ray/HD-DVD combo drive and misc usb shit (mouse keyboard, gamepad etc)
[edit]http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine
hmmmm, at least it's a rough estimate and using the 5870 for the card it recommends less than 400 watts., the only problem I see is the 4pin connector for the MB is an 8pin which my current PSU doesn't have...

I'd list all the components my humble Corsair VX450 is powering, but meh... I've done it before. Needless to say; PSU requirements are vastly over-exaggerated. Seriously.

nu way, always keep the last build as a backup PC for lan games
Right now my old one is running my old 754 socket gaming rig I used to have, runs L4D just fine
but ya, good point about the PSU, I'll get a new one anyways, I dun have an 8pin mb connector on this PSU

see that's the thing, if I do go with that thinking I'll never do crossfire, I never will unless I buy a new board, I sorta like to future proof myself in case I have a change in heart, I'll end up getting the above PSU I wanted but if I can get away with my 510 for now I'll do so.

Got my 5850 wow is this fucking thing awesome.
I was re-running the benchmarks I had posted about in teh games section and was only seeing about 10FPS gain in them....which I didn't get. Said fuck the benchmark turned on stalker's card raping and WOW.
I was averaging 25--30 on it with AA turned off, mediocore shadows and some other eye candy turned off with hiccups.
Cranked everything up on the 5850 and it's running so fast fraps FPS is glitching. But overall it's about 80-120FPS >.<
And this is on my current gaming system..which is outdated...think about trying to suck a squirrel through a coffee straw...yes...that bottlenecked.
AMD X2 4400 2.4GHz (939 socket....ya...)
Asus A8NSLI Premium
4x1024 PC3200
Bunch of SATAII drives
so it should be a NICE card on the new system once I get it.

Lulz I remember when you had a 4850... You ended up caving in and replaced it with a 4870
I'm now waiting for the whatsitcalled SLI/CF replacer to see if it's any good before upgrading. Still not sure whether to go with 1366 or 1156, sop that will help make the decision easier. Still waiting on GTX380 also.

Can someone give me the list of programes that support quad core processors? I mean, is there a program that will fully utilize all 4 cores?

There are more and more games coming out that make use of multiple-cores, but duals are still the "accepted" medium. Still, it can't hurt to have a quad - long as you can clock it properly.

lol my system def doesn't like the new card, theres a few games here and there that are taking amazing performance gains but other is just bottleneck galore, guess it's more urge to get the new system built

Try increasing your resolution for now, mate. Higher resolutions rely more on the GPU than the CPU, so that should loosen the bottleneck a bit.

im at my highest RES and that's 1440x900.
It's very odd im not seeing that much of an increase, I mean I know it's bottlenecking but christ, it can't be THAT much.

Your CPU is quite old and weak...
